In Mho, at least two significant changes need to be made.

Coach Stud needs to go. In the tenth game of year, Alabama, Elliot Porter said a lack of communication was cause of poor line play, while Trai Turner said some players didn't execute. Poor communication and to a certain extent, poor execution falls on coaching. Once again, this line was touted as best ever before the season. Either he can't recruit top linemen, or he can't improve their skills through coaching. Why did CR commit to Alabama? Simple:

2009 Andre Smith OT R1
2009 Antoine Caldwell C R3
2010 Mike Johnson OG R3
2011 James Carpenter OT R1
2013 Chance Warmack OG R1
2013 DJ Fluker OT R1

As for Chavis, his scheme is getting old. Can't effectly blitz or cover TE or RB on pass routes. Also, too soft on third down.We beat his D in SEC CG with second team QB in 2001 and 2003. Good man, no doubt. Would maybe keep him one more year unless we could luck into someone like Muschamp.

But then again, what do I know. Maybe Les can give this some thought while he's having his $12,328.77 cup of coffee every morning.

LSU can do better than Stud, but he's Vince Lombardi compared to the DB coach.

ALL the OL problems are a combination of mediocre coaching combined with the inability of the athletes to play proper technique and effectively carry out their blocking and blitz pick up assignments. Doesn't matter how big and strong they are individually, if they can't play together as a unit.

It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to call the Blocking Assignments and Pick up Blitzes. I think so far some of these so called 3,4, and 5's or whatever are more like 1's and 2's. As far as Recruiting all these Stars I think they need to find some good Football Players with some Gray Stuff between the ears.

Let's not forget Les spent 20+ seconds to "setup a FG block" against OM..... So at LSU, it does not take a Rocket Scientist, but it does take the head coach to call fundamental football plays that are (hopefully) run routinely at practices.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to judge the performance of the coaches. Is the problem the coaches or the players? I don't know. I do know that I am really disappointed with the teams performance this year and I assume that Miles knows what the problem is and will address it. If the problem is Miles I assume that there are program supporters knowledgeable enough about football to see what the problem is and correct it.

Forgive me for digressing, but another post earlier this week posted a link to a Forbes article that said bama spends 36 mill on their football program. 50% more than anybody else with the exception of Ohio State. I suspect that extra 12 mill at bama provides recruiting and scouting networks, coaching, facilities, and athlete support that is second to none and is the reason bama is sitting on top. And that is where we want to be.

Coaching changes in certain positions may be helpful. Don't blame it all on players.

Is it more than likely that every player that we recruited playing on defense is not getting it or now lacks talent, (11 guys) or one or two coaches aren't doing the best job?

Look at last year, everyone was saying Mett was a disappointment, OBJ and Landry were dropping passes, etc. Now look at how they play differently in one year under one new coach.

This year is a prime example of how the right coach can get help the players play to their full potential.

But is a trend every year with the OL. We can't help injuries, but almost every season, we either hear or have reason to believe that the OL will be a strength, and they are rarely above average.

And I guess the fact that LSU loses games in the 4th quarter doesn't have anything to do with strength and conditioning.

Head Coach
- does not run the program with near the discipline required to have an edge week in week out. Consistency is not there due to his coaching philosophy (family man, father figure)=no discipline
-Miles' teams (for the most part) have improved each week for the first 3-4 weeks, then injuries and better prepared teams show up on the schedule and Miles can't get his teams and team leaders mentally tough enough to persevere and maintain focus and a high level of play
-game preparation and gameday coaching=he has proven time and time again, that he doesn't have it between the ears at these critical moments to have an edge over opposing coaches; sidelines are always as confused and in disaray as ever...
-recruiting gaps; there is a reason our stars from the 2011 season made the largest mass exodus to the draft in history....no confidence in the coach...

it has more to do with how terribly John Chavis has been undressed in the fourth quarter by the likes of Doug Nussmeier, Mike Bobo, and Dabo Swinney

You people need to learn that les doesnt fire coaches. Why? His biggest flaw...loyalty.

We can only hope stud and raymond are miles-fired into similar jobs at other schools. Hope ensminger is reassigned to go spend some time in the office with kragthorpe and earl lane.

Im not completely ready to give up on chief (gettin there tho) but he could always decide to spend more time with family.

Stud and ensminger need to go. Absolute dead weight in recruiting. Raymonds seat should be scalding hot. Bring in a top oline coach and a young recruiting type for tight ends.
