Sorry, on my phone, can't link. Who thinks he stays 10 years at Baylor?

Ill be surprised if he's there after next season.

Briles seems like a great guy and is obviously a fantastic coach. I am just skeptical given the recent history of college coaches coming and going.

A big time program that wants Briles or any other hot name coach badly enough, can take care of a buyout rather quickly.

Would be great if he stayed for a long time and built a perrenial powerhouse at Baylor. Wait and see I suppose.

I don't think he leaves.

Briles isn't motivated by money and Baylor is paying him 4+ million now, so I doubt he will leave for 5 million.

If he were to leave, it would have to be for a Texas team. He is a texan in and out and he has great relationships with Texas HS Football coaches. Nearly all of our scholarship players under Briles are from Texas.

Money is always a motive.

I'm surprised Baylor is paying $4 mill for a football coach though. He might not leave if he's making that.

Sumlin to So.Cal Briles to A&M?

But you're right. After the RGIII era Briles could've left for a bigger name school. If he is going to get pulled away it will have to an elite program. Maybe even Nebraska. Obviously they've fallen on hard times but it a historical power and if Briles can go there and use his connections to tap into TX talent he could turn them around quick.

eta: I'm not sure what UF will do but what if they get rid of Muschamp and go after Briles? Would he go? He has that offensive mind that I'm sure UF fans miss seeing.

The $260 million new Baylor Stadium will also help keep him here. He did a lot of fundraising for that himself. Baylor has given him everything he has wanted including an indoor practice facility, assistant coach pay raise, and the next planned facility a team dining hall.

A&M/UT are the two schools that would worry me the most.

if/when Miles is done at LSU, Alleva should go camp out outside Briles' house and not take no for an answer.

Why would they be getting a stadium? This isn't meant to talk shite but aren't large sections at most Baylor games tarped off?

Old stadium is 63 years old this year. One of the worst stadiums I have ever been in.

New stadium is actually 5,000 seats smaller.

The fact Baylor will get left out of the BCS game will remind Art all he needs to know about coaching there. Gone after next year if not this year.

You don't have to worry about A&M unless Sumlin gets pried away from us.

I don't see that happening though.

Briles was a high school coach making 45k the majority of his career. Perhaps $4 million or whatever Baylor pays him is plenty for him
