Uverse vs Direct TV

I had a AT&T sales rep stop by the house and gave me a quote on switching to Uverse from Direct TV. Uverse would be a little cheaper than what I have with Direct TV. Do any of you have experience with both that could share your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Can you call Uverse every few months and act like you're going to cancel and then get a ton of credits thrown at you?

DTV wins.

I don't have experience with both, but I love Uverse. We have it and haven't had any problems. Just know that whatever deal they give you it's usually only for a certain time frame because they are trying to sell the product.

I got my bill cut from 190 to 110 by saying I was about to leave.
Also, you get access to the Watch ESPN app for iPhone and Apple TV. Not sure if DTV gives that same access.

ETA: I have Uverse and are very happy with them.

I've had both and would choose u-verse if you stuck a gun to my head. Both very similar. u-verse customer service is head and shoulders better. The folks who install it actually work for at&t and actually address problems. Directv folks are contractors (i.e. unemployed electricians)who get paid $50 per call and get paid if they solve your problem or not. Also, the dvr is better but directv has probably caught up on that front.Plus no outages with bad weather.

You can always wheel and deal with DTV. Called yesterday to cancel free trial of Cinemax and ended up getting $40 off my bill for the next 6 months and I now receive HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Encore and Showtime for free for 6 months as well.

Uverse isn't shitty. So you don't need to play games

This a huge misconception about DTV. I never lost a signal during Gustav.

You can do the same thing with uverse.

I had DTV from 199? to 2009. I've had uverse since. I can't say uverse is perfect, but it's much better than DTV.

I swap 450, to 300, get every free HBO, SHO, etc. Just need to pay attention for deals. Dtv deals to get me back as a costumer are many but lacking.

I have Dtv at my camp and lose the signal at least 40-50% of the time when thunderstorms are in the area.

Call them. They might need to adjust your dish or they will give you a new one. They will do it to keep you as a customer.

Correct. If your dish is pointed and aligned correctly, you won't lose signal.

To the OP, I'm assuming you never travel/tailgate and carry your dish and equipment with you? If not, then go with whoever gives you the best deal, I guess.

We have a 5th wheel camper that we take on vacations, and I have a secondary residence, so I have DirecTV and carry my equipment (I also have a spare dish) with me and setup everything so we will have TV everywhere we go. In my situation, I will never leave DTV.....I can have TV wherever I go. Plus, I can dish point and align better than most of those shitty techs.

I had major issues with Uverse, faulty boxes, my bill was always higher than what I was quoted and shitty service. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I would stick with DTV. As others have mentioned, you can always threaten to cancel and they'll reward you with some free shite.
