outdoor board is the only place i know where to ask this.

I was pulled over for speeding.

I handed the officer my license and CCW permit.

He asked me to exit the vehicle so he could get the pistol from my console.

He then took the chambered round out of the gun, and placed unloaded pistol and loose round in the trunk.

-he wrote me a ticket for speeding....which i deserved.

But was that a violation with me being a CCW? It seems that having a CCW limits my rights. Amiright?

I wouldn't think they can take your weapon.....

I'm not a lawyer though.

No self respecting man has a "trunk" on his vehicle.

Sounds like the popo put the pistol in the OPs trunk after he unloaded it. Popo sounds like a dick and I suspect the OP was acting like one towards the popo or this thread probably wouldn't be here. My CCW has gotten me out of a couple tickets.

Also, this.

He did not steal the weapon, he secured the scene by placing the owner's weapon in the owner's trunk (i hope).

Why did you hand him your carry permit?

You are supposed to notify an officer if there is a weapon in your car. Handing him the CCW tells the officer, "I have a gun, and I am a responsible gun owner".

Unnecessary move but techinically just being overly cautious. Didnt steal the gun but made sure it couldn't be used on him while he was leaving.

Because he was packing.

Everything here sounds normal to me.

After the officer drives away, feel free to retrieve your weapon and rechamber.

seems excessive to me, i am not a "I don't answer questions guy ( LINK)" either, but the CCW says that I abide by gun laws.

especially when a NC State Trooper the week before simply told me to keep it in place and we will be fine.

Some are more gun shy than others. This one may have a had a friend or partner in a traffic stop shooting. I am not a huge fan of cops, but I don't think this is a big deal
