Store Link

This came out of nowhere. Hopefully some good deals come out of it.

quote:

You read that headline right. This is the new Amazon Playstation Network Store, an alternate venue to purchase digital Playstation content for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita.

The downside of going all digital for the next-gen consoles was going to be restricting yourself to only one storefront for potential deals, but now that's not an issue. Sony already leaves its competitors in the dust when it comes to sales, especially with its Playstation Plus program, and adding Amazon's deal muscle to the mix increases the potential savings exponentially.

To celebrate the launch of the store, Amazon will be offering $5 PSN credit back on select digital purchases, and even better, customers who participate in the limited time buy two get one free promotion starting at noon ET today (Tuesday) will also get a bonus $5 PSN credit.

We can't wait to see what digital deals Amazon brings to the PSN table, and we'll be back before the B2G1 free promo goes live to remind you again.

This is what I am interested in. Even if MS doesn't get a similar service the competition could have that effect.

prices are pretty much controlled

i dont see release games going for anything less than 60 bucks, but amazon tends to offer gift cards/bonuses with game purchases, so you may see some of that, which i guess does lower the price in a roundabout way

honest question, but how are they controlled?

Plus they aren't going to charge the same exact price for DD games as physical copies...that would give people zero incentive to use Amazon. Which would make zero sense.

Some of the newer high profile games still come with a $59.99 price tag on steam and will hold it for a good bit. BLOPS 2 was that for the longest time. But a good majority of them are a bit cheaper.

MAP (minimum advertised price)

so many products are run these days like this.....iphones, ipads, video games, golf clubs, etc. etc.

games usually won't go on sale until the manufacturer allows it

Or shop at Amazon much. I have things preordered for less than its retail price (lowest I have currently is 20%).

Currently at the PSN or XBL store no...and there is no reason to since you can only get it from one place.

like i said earlier in the thread, amazon does things like offer credits for game purchases etc.....but if a game is on sale for 50 bucks or so instead of 60, you can bet that is only because the producer allowed it

well, you can buy a physical copy of a game at wal mart, game stop, target, etc. etc., but how come call of duty is 59.xx at every single one of those places at release?

you don't think walmart would sell it for 10 bucks less just to get people in the door if they were allowed to?

There's the kicker, IMO. That's not the case anymore, but MAP may be in play too.
