Very good hire for player development and helping along the young Latino players. Apparently he likes to force the issue on the base path so the cubs will need to find speed somewhere. Question of if he will develop into a good manager but for the cubs needs right now I think it's a very good hire.

Still can't believe boston showed their arse like they did with lovullo.

This thread is waaay better. Mine was speculative lol

I like the hire. Hopefully he can develop the young talent we've got.

Also, hopeful Barney can hit better than .208 next season

Wouldn't be surprised to see Barney non-tendered and we see a platoon at that position like we saw 3rd this year.

Though i would understand if they made a move there, it would be sucky to see him go. Favorite player.

boston showed their arse by going by the agreement for theo?

I thought we should have let him interview if they asked because i wouldn't want us to stop a coach from getting a promotion. I wouldn't say we showed our arse though because their was an agreement in place.

I think alcantra is another year away. But I'm with you. Excited about him and tired of the campanas, fontenot theriot and Barney's of the world that are "scrappy" and fan favorites even though they suck. Let's infuse some talent.

If we are free of Barney I think it might be more of the same with Logan Watkins but with more walks and a bit higher batting average at a fraction of the cost.

That agreement was made in 2011. Lovullo was hired in 2012, obviously not the intended persons they were keeping theo from hiring away. Also the chance manage a major market team doesn't come around daily and instead of giving him a chance they shut it down because of ill will. Yea. They showed their arse.

Phish how you feel about the possibility of Samardzia being dealt?

I don't think it happens until the trade deadline. But I think if he's not extended by then he's dealt. I don't know how other front offices look at advanced stats but if I'm another front office and the cubs offer me shark I start pointing to the conventional pitching stats trying to drive down his price and we know theo and Jed would scoff at that so I expect the cubs will gamble on a good first half.

Shark is weird because we wanted to keep him away from football we gave him an inflated contract. And he seems to believe that inflation should be there for this new deal too. I just think ultimately he's asking for too much. I like the guy but I'd really like say Adam eaton and one of those high dealing pitchers from the d backs.
