let our second 1st round draft pick just sit and rot on the bench. Do we plan to trade him or pair him with a package deal possibly in the future. At least let him play, you drafted him...try to get him some confidence and develop the kid and give him a chance for at least a few minutes a game!!

If he was better than Roberts, he'd play more.

Actually leaving Rivers on the bench is probably the best coaching decision Monty has made this year

The writing has been on the wall since we got Holiday, Evans, and Morrow. A trade will be made that will either involve Rivers or free up minutes for him. I'd be pretty surprised if we have the same six guards on the roster after the trade deadline.

Roberts has actually looked pretty damn good this year.

And sit who? Morrow is a beast from downtown and Roberts was one of the only reason we stayed in the game last night.

I hope we don't try to free up minutes for him. That's a tank move.

At this point I don't think a smaller trade like Roberts/Stiemsma for Aaron Gray changes the equation much. So if Rivers gets more minutes out of a trade I would think Gordon would be the one traded. But tanking teams will be sellers at the deadline this year. I could see Rivers/Aminu/Stiemsma being packaged for a competent yet overpaid guy. You kill your flexibility but that package for Jeff Green makes a lot of sense with this roster. You get rid of a black hole on offense in Aminu while not downgrading the defense and rebounding of the SF position much. Sign Okafor to the cap room MLE when he gets healthy and you have a pretty talented team 1-10.

Aminu has been pretty good thus far and Stiemsma has also done fairly well. His regular season has been far and away better than his preseason. I'm all for moving Rivers, but moving an upper rotation guy (Aminu) and a middle-low rotation guy (Stiemsma) for a similar middle-low rotation guy (Gray) just doesn't excite me.

I don't think you are giving Aminu credit that he deserves. He has been much better this year. His jump shot has been solid and he works the baseline very well. He has also limited the bumbling turnovers that people expected from him. He is shooting 50% and getting 2.3 APG with under 1 TOPG. As of right now, I think I'd like to see him gain some confidence to take shots instead of deferring. Before this season, I think we were looking for him to play D, rebound, and avoid shooting, so that's a significant change.

I said Jeff Green for that package, not Aaron Gray. Boston is tanking and Ainge may well like Rivers more than he should. That's basically using cap space and Rivers potential to go from a defensively skewed SF to a more balanced SF.
