I'm really still in shock sometimes at how bad his play calling he's been this year. I was in the number thinking he would come back more focused than ever, but I think the rust has just been too much. Not trying to sit here and knock the guy, just trying to get a feel for how many expected this?

I don't care what anyone says about our O-line, it's an absolute disgrace how much we've completely abandoned the run. We've had really nice runs the last three weeks, but we never stick with it. We're completely unimaginative and totally conspicuous in what we try to do. We're passing? Either 4 or 5 wide. We're running? I formation heavy. Where are the draws? The delays if you love going spread so often? Oh and don't even get me started how we constantly try to play action off that run game we never stick to.

I've been holding back my thoughts about the play calling.

But it's...awful at times.

I don't know what CSP is seeing anymore.
I mean, why did he think that 4th down hand off to Hill was gonna work?

I mean that was the most baffling of play calls Ive seen in a while, not because it was an end around but because it was an end around to our 3rd string TE

I threw in the towel at that point

Like I said in another thread, if you run that play put the ball in the hands of one of your fastest men.

What, for the life of me, I will not understand is the complete removal of the QB sneak in the playbook??? Ok I get it, the o line is not great but man Brees has shown in the past the toughness to get it done?

We might as well have put it in the hands of Graham's gimpy arse.

Would change nothing.

i dont agree with the call, but if the backside DE crashes in on the RB, he has a lot of room to run

it's basically a bootleg play. All the blocking action is dedicated to the fake. The TE is on his own with hopefully no one looking at him. That's the design

It's like 07 or 08 play calling.

We severely lack talent on the outside and along the line. We have to majorly address these two areas in some capacity. Fortunately centers are rarely top picks and one should be available in mid to late first Rd. I think this is showing that we can't continue to expect Brees to make due with a subpar surrounding cast. I thought it was very presumptuous all last off season when people would state "Brees is so good we don't really need top___". shite, some have even suggested we didn't need jimmy and should save the money.

Our young defense is more than capable of playing complimentary ball. We need to complete focus on offensive upgrades this coming off season.

As for this season I think we will make the playoffs but will likely get our shite pushed in by one of the more physical defenses if we don't play significantly better on the line... I'm not sure that's really possible.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic. I just started ranting

It seems to rely on good blocking, which we do not have.

Playing to our weaknesses.

I dont understand the playcalling either. the line has been terrible in passblocking yet we continue to run long developing plays that are getting brees killed.

His playcalling cost us the 2007 NFCCG, the New England game this year, and this game today IMO FWIW.

If Collins stupid arse catches a perfect pass on a perfect play call we're not even talking about this. The Saints deserved to lose this game. Their crap was getting stale anyway. Every year they play down to bad football teams and it's going to end up costing them this year as well. The o-line has reached a level of suck that has hit epic proportions. They can't run the ball or protect against anybody. What really grinds my gears more than actually losing is losing to that thing at QB. This Jets team will end up getting destroyed by various teams, making this loss even worse.

Eh, the Saints just couldn't handle the Bears defense that year. Not on that field in that condition. As far as this year, I agree that it's mostly on the offensive line. That said, time to adapt and maybe run more spread.

Look up Deuce's per carry average for that game and tell me why he only got like 11 carries. We were driving to take the lead midway through the 3rd quarter on the legs of Deuce and had ALL of the momentum. Then Payton abandons the run 100% and we get blown out.

Jed dropped the ball!

We were fricked no matter what Payton was going to call up on that 4th down, no push reliability on that line

That's false, because as I said earlier, I made a comment as soon as I saw the stat "29 passes 8 runs." Everyone and their grandma knows when Brees hits 45+ passes, we're usually not winning the game. This team refuses to stick to the run and refuse to adapt. Draws and delays would be a great addition instead of lining up in this I formation and announcing blatantly our intentions.

In that Jed case, If an NFL team can't line up at get a 3rd and inches, you have problems. Brees could have literally taken the hand off and fell forward and most likely gotten it. Instead we try and a pass and reverse. What are you scared of Payton? fricking man up and get the first and quit pussyfooting around

Do another PA pass and take a crack downfield. That was the one rare situation where a PA would have had some credibility.

Despite the desperate situation, there were a few plays where I was laughing my arse off as Brees tried to sell a PA on 3rd and 17 or some such play.
