Were Mett's 2 INTs against Furman also downfield bombs?

I didn't see the game, but the 2 INTs were surprising to see after the 3 INTs against Ole Miss. Were they the exact same kind of passes as in Ole Miss?

They were both bad short routes.

The first one was a 73 yd pick 6 from a relatively short pass.
The other was tipped.

No, the first was a bad through between two WRs to the left sideline...DB jumped the gap and grabbed a pick-6...the second one came on an intermediate pass to the right side of the O and Mett's arm was hit near the middle of his delivery....ball bounced off a defender's upperbody and then was reeled in by another defender in near proximity.

Not bitching, just curious if it was the same thing or a fluke.

He threw some more jump balls to beckham that would have picked picked off by a better defense.

People have been saying this since the beginning of the season. Yet, the better defenses we played weren't the ones who picked him off.

I love how everyone was on Zach's nutsack the beginning of the year, now suddenly he is the worst ever!

Actually it looked like the first pick was a miscommunication or an incorrect route by the WR. He threw a quick out and WR ran deeper (don't remember if it was a deep come back or a fly). The pass went directly to the DB. Not as bad as people are making it seem.

Second int was a result of Hawkins getting beat and the DE hitting Mett's arm as he released it.

There was only really one other "bad" pass that I remember and that was to ODB. ODB was bracketed by CB and S and Mett threw it high b/w the 2. ODB jumped and caught the ball and went in for the TD.

Pretty much. We have two of the best receivers in the nation, we will give them chances to win on deep balls.

2 of his 3 ints at Ole Miss were bad throws, the other was a bad decision. We're not going away from the deep ball anytime soon, that is a staple of Cameron's offense.

The passes vs ole miss and several against furman were terrible regardless of a positive or negative outcome.

this.

that said, it is obvious to me that the pinpoint accuracy he had in the first 5 games of the season has gone south. It started in the 1st half against Florida, continued at Ole Miss, and at times again Furman.

The common thread there is that it was early in the Florida game that his lower leg injury occurred. He brushed it off the next week as a 'deep shin bruise', but he's been wearing a big knee brace on that leg since.

IMO, something with that leg is bothering him enough to affect his mechanics.

My point is that any pass where a receiver is even remotely covered has the potential to be picked off. Receivers aren't going to be wide open every time.

He's been wearing that big knee brace every game since last season.

oh. my wife may have a point about my powers of observation.

either way! his leg injury coincided with accuracy problems.
