Deer stands are just a plywood floor with four sides, so I was thinking the best option is the figure out how to attach it to a clamp somehow and that way I can just clamp it to the side of the stand.

Any make such a contraption with success?

If you're shooting any further than 20yds you're wasting your time with a GoPro

Yeah why a gopro? They're not really designed for stationary shooting. More of an action cam. You'd be better off with regular cam that can zoom.

LimoStudio Portable Camera Desk C-Clamp Tripod for Camera and Camcorders, AGG300 by LimoStudio LINK

This what I use with my regular cam Corder. For $8 shipped you can't go wrong.

in that case I would just screw one of these flat mounts into the plywood and call it a day

Would be the easiest option IMO. Or you could screw a round handle to the plywood and use a roll bar or handle bar mount to give you some articulation if you wanted also.
