UCF/Louisville debacle

Posted this on an SECrant thread but I'll make one here. Someone please explain how the UCF/Louisville ranking makes ANY sense.
What's really the worst is where UCF/Louisville stand. Louisville ranked higher than UCF in both polls despite having a .000 average in the computers and UCF BEATING THEM.
I guess a 3 point loss to South Carolina hurts UCF more than Louisville losing to UCF. Despite UCF having actually beaten a ranked team (#8 Louisville), a B1G perennial power in Penn State on the road, and only losing by three to a highly ranked SEC team.
Louisville's best win is Kentucky or Rutgers, both of which were tight games.
Seriously frick the BCS, especially if UCF ends up behind fricking Louisville at the end of the year. The people who make the polls just seemed to forget that UCF and Louisville played.

Rankings are consistently awful. This is nothing new.

BCS is irrelevant unless you're top 5. Who cares what they're ranked?

Louisville still gets points for preseason hype, and even with the worst schedule in D1, they still have only one loss, only so far they can drop.
UCF might be the better team though...

It matters because the AAC has a spot in a BCS bowl and although I don't actually know who that would go to, I do know that being ranked in a higher spot would help that.

Don't blame the BCS blame the stupid fricks voting in the Harris and USA Today polls

I did. It's like they don't even watch the games and just go by preseason rankings and see who gets a W or an L that week, then adjusts up or down.
UCF is a better football team in schedule, head to head, and on field results.

I thought all of the mid-majors get to fight over 1 spot, which is why Boise ended up not going to the AAC and staying put in the MWC. Or is that starting next year with the playoffs? I'm so confused.

They are 6-1, 3-0 in conference and beat Louisville in Louisville.

Umm yea, that's not even close to being true. Most conferences use BCS ranking as a tiebreaker these days and the rank is very important when it comes to non BCS schools getting potential at large bids.

We only have ourselves to blame. We blew a 28-7 lead midway through the 3rd Qtr. We fumbled at the UCF goal line in the 1st half and in the 2nd half that led them to score.
I still believe we are the better team, we killed ourselves in that game.

Louisville has the most recognizable player, only reason.

Essentially if one of the cupcake unbeatens left (Fresno State and Northern Illinois) are ranked ahead of UCF and in the top 16 at the end of the season, they'll get put into the Orange Bowl instead of UCF.
Since UCF is getting absolutely no help even after beating Louisville and Penn State, there is a real possibility that winning out could mean nothing.
Oh yeah get this, also a fun little anecdote:
Michigan lost to Penn State, beat Akron by 4 points and Connecticut by 3 points.
UCF beat Penn State on the road, beat Akron by 31 points, and destroyed Connecticut by 45 points.
Guess which one is ranked higher?

You're not put into a bowl based on rankings, it's the bowl's choice, based on the order. And the Orange Bowl will most definitely choose UCF over Fresno/NIU, should it come to that, regardless if UCF is ranked lower.
