Bow Peep Question

Yesterday evening I let a nice sized older doe walk. It was just before dusk, and even though I could see her fine with my naked eye, I could not find her through my peep. It was a perfect broadside shot and she was oblivious to me being there.
I could have shot without using my peep, but I'm not confident enough in my aim to do so as I don't practice doing that. This is only my second season bow hunting and I'm still learning. Is there a peep available that allows a better line of sight through it? I know nothing about it. I just went with the one the guy at the bow shop put on it when I purchased the bow.
TIA

I don't have the answer to your question, however, wanted to commend you for not taking a risky shot. You made the right choice.

That can be frustrating. I went to a no-peep system years ago because of similar problems, but never could master it. I'm back to a peep, but use a bigger one. So, if you can master the no-peep that is the way to go.

It was hard to not take the shot. I'm still looking for that first bow kill. I bloodied one last year on my first hunt due to my excitement. I shot at 30 yards and in my excitement I used my 20 yard pin and knocked blood and white hair all over the place. I never want to deal with that feeling again.

Thanks. I may take the bow somewhere and look in on that.

Mine is 1/4 inch I believe.

The biggest help will be to use a 5/16 peep. One that large is plenty accurate for a hunting bow and will work much better in low light conditions.

My buddy had the same problem the other day. He and I both have/had the peeps with the rubber string. He upgraded to a larger flip peep. I'd like to upgrade, but the dude at BPS said because of the string on my bow I couldn't use the flipper peep. Does this sound right to ya'll?

Bigger peep (That's what she said).
We used to just drill them out to whatever size we wanted. We'd start with one like the one on the left, and end up with something like on the right.
We just used a bit and did it by hand while still in the string.

Shoot with both eyes open and you can acquire your target much easier

this.
if you have a round sight guard, it would be optimum if you started small and then see if the peep sight hole is just larger than the pin guard. if you don't have a round pin card just drill it bigger and practice right at dark and see if you can see your pin.
also winking your non peep eye helps right at last light to get the sight picture for a shot.

Thanks fellas. I'm going to try drilling it out when I get off of work.

I could not find her through my peep
So, not only am I not limited to peep light, I have eliminated additional weight on my string.

Alex what is that called? Isn't it a cure for bow torque also?

Timberline No-Peep and it shows torque like nothing else. It made me start using one of those slick as otter snot micro-fiber gloves so that the bow grip nessels nicely into my hand. I instantly shot better.

did you have to order it or does somebody stock it locally now. I shoot a Monster and it is great except for being a torque monster.

Is this no peep system easily installed or would I have to bring it to Spillway or Bowies?
Posted on 10/28/13 at 3:56 pm to ReelFun
I ordered it.
It's easily installed, but one of the tougher gizmos ever to set correctly. I truly dread getting a new site, which I need, because I'll have to reset the No-peep.
You have to draw a lot of times to your normal anchor then adjust so that you are not compensating to get the thing to line up. A friend of mine never got it quite right, and gave up like the quitter he is.
