Well I was wrong on the Anthony Jennings will redshirt stuff (I'm usually only wrong on the MSB when I'm semi trolling)

Anyway I thought for sure Rivers would be the backup and even Rettig might be the future QB.

But who has more potential. Brandon Harris or Anthony Jennings?

Also...is it possible Harris can compete with Jennings and others for the job next year.

quote:

Regarded as the best quarterback to come out of Louisiana in nearly a decade, Parkway High School’s Brandon Harris on Thursday said he will play college football at the state’s flagship school.

Harris committed to LSU during a ceremony at Parkway in Bossier City, picking the Tigers over Ohio State and Auburn. The announcement was made during a live chat with ESPN

“I get the opportunity to go in in December and compete as a freshman and start as a freshman,” Harris said. “Everybody knows Zach Mettenberger graduates this year. By me getting the opportunity to graduate in December, enroll early and go through spring practice, I get a great shot at trying to compete and start as a freshman.”

Everyone that constantly omits Rettig from these threads really should give it a rest.

It would be a real shame to run off a QB with his kind of potential because he feels like job is already out of his reach.

The kid can play and I hope he gets a fair shake.

I actually thought he would be ahead of Jennings from the get go..

Obviously I was wrong. With that said he'll have the opportunity to compete in the spring.

The only QB that anyone really knows anything about is Mettenberger.

None of the other QBs have played enough (if any) meaningful live snaps to be evaluated for their abilities or potential.

Measureables are nice, but ability to utlize those measurables is what makes a QB. We know nothing about any of them at this point.

I know right. It was almost like I was a Saints fan posing as a Falcons fan to make them look bad.

Harris has better upside and will compete for the job next season. He'll probably end up taking a redshirt though.

Thats the thing...I thought the same of AJ.

Heres a question...

If Harris is the 2nd best QB....does he redshirt him? Or does a *gulp* dare I say..

Jefferson/Shep thing happen again. Where Harris comes in for snaps

I still assume they'll be much better than those guys though...

eh. Too far ahead. Just was curious what people thought.

Agreed. That was really my earlier point.

The constant talk about Jennings and Harris with no mention of Rettig, who was just as highly regarded out of HS, is really kind of confusing imo.

Especially considering he actually seems like a good fit for what Cam seems to want to do on O.

he will...if he displays what CC is looking for he will get his shot and he and Rivers are one injury from moving up. Brandon Harris is the future. and should be pretty much a lock to redshirt.

get better, get better, get better.

I actually thought they'd be neck and neck but obviously the coaches don't think they are that close. I think it'll be a competition next year but Jennings is a playbook nerd so I think he has the system down packed. It'll be more or less a talent battle between him and Rettig but yes Harris has the highest upside of them all. In 3 years. he [Harris] should jump whoever doesn't claim the spot next year.

How is everyone saying AJ is not that good? I mean Jesus Christ, if he weren't good how in the hell did he take the #2 spot as a Frosh? You people need to get real. AJ can sling the rock and he's pretty mobile, smart kid with great vision. If Rettig or Rivers were that "great" then why did he pass them up?
