I just built mine and they seemed to work pretty good in the tub after I emptied the sand out of the keels.

I assume you just weighted it like normal to the bottom? Any other tips on using them in the field?

We just used them like regular decoys. Regular weights and setup, just turned on the ball and let it rip.

Thanks. Do you think they helped on your hunts?

The most you should do is maybe a leveling kit. Anything more than a leveling kit you will probably regret.

I honestly dont know.

The first hunt we didnt have many birds, but we did have quite a few wood ducks come in and try to rape the mojo, so I know they didnt hurt.

Second hunt had strong wind across the water the entire time so they never really made their own motion.

As far as looks and my outlook for them, I think they are going to work wonders.

Insert this.

Into this.

Turn it on.

Watch greenheads rain all over your spread.

Looks like you filled the deke up with bubble wrap? Does that work pretty well? I just put mine in a sock.

Yep I used bubble wrap and just formed a little hole in the middle to drop the weasel ball in so it doesnt roll around.

I saw people using "Great Stuff" foam and figured the bubble wrap would be easier.

ETA: Redfish, take a full size decoy and cut a "U" shape in the top/back.

I filled the inside of the decoy with bubble wrap to keep the ball from rolling around inside.

Simply turn the weasel ball on (it has a weight inside to offset the motor and make it roll around constantly), and put inside decoy.

Wam bam, you have constant motion on the water, the decoy just simply pulsates and puts out ripples. Great in the middle of a spread, calm water situations, etc.

I use great stuff spray foam and have for about 15 years and it works fine. But definitely put foam or something in there.

They have to work better than the commercial ones I've bought.

I weight them just like the rest of my dekes, TX rigged. You can order the weazel balls cheaper online, fwiw. I have also started putting the weazel balls inside a ziploc bag inside the deke so as to protect them from the water.

Cool idea, you sure about that white rope you got your decoys tied off with?

That white rope was just for a trial with that decoy.

I made the weasel ball decoy spur of the moment the night before teal opener. Had a decoy and a weight so I just tied that rope to use for the first trip.
