Lamar Louis looks like an improvement over Welter

You needed to re-watch that abortion of a game to confirm that? I noticed that with clarity in the first go 'round while in a first-half-performance-induced-drunken-stupor.

Don't think I can bring myself to watch that game again, same as 1/9

and it's not even close. Louis made more big hits in 1 quarter of play than Welter has all season. He has the speed to cover ground sideline to sideline. He looked good, what a difference.

Thanks for the input, but to be honest if anyone could not conclude that Welter is the wrong solution at Mike almost no matter who we have backing him up. They really don't know the game. The guy is just not starting material on a championship caliber team in the SEC. Not trying to be a dick to him, but his play is just substandard.
Really has me questioning is it lack of talent "recruiting - on the coaches," lack of coaching up the talent "on the coaches" or just plain the coaches can't see past the nose in front of their faces as to whats on the field "again on the coaches.
Either way this shite has got to be fixed because the linebacking crew is just too important to have this kind of play out of them.

I don't care how much better Louis is as an athlete, if he didn't know his assignments he would have been worse than Welter. I know that's hard to believe, but it's true.

Another thing to remember, this wasn't late 4th qtr mop up duty with a hyped up freshman. This was important and critical time in the game. My immediate reaction on his first hit- "who the he is that and where has he been". He read hat play & flat out bolted to the sideline and made a texbook/technically sound tackle and stopped the guy dead in his tracks. Welter is still the car-chasing dog.

Oh I've known from the first couple of games that Welter wasn't very good and will be a liability going forward. I know there have been numerous threads on Welter and a lot of people's response was obviously there was no one better and the coaches know better than us at who's best to play Mike. Well I present exhibit A, Lamar Louis, from Sat night against Ole Miss. He attacked gaps, shredded blocks, ran fast sideline to sideline, and made some big plays and big hits. I enjoyed watching that aggressiveness from our Mike.

So who's an improvement over the rest of our shitty defense?

On that last TD by Miss the hole was as big as Dolly Partons breast. And where was Welter. All of a sudden he comes into view and his face looked like "what was that streak I just saw"? Passed right on the side of him on his way to Pay-dirt.

Did any of you watch Louis play in any games before this week? I did, and he was crummy and no better than Welter.
I'm glad that he's putting the pieces together and becoming a better player. We all knew that he had the potential, and he should probably start now, but he wasn't better than Welter at the beginning of the season.

He isn't a starter on an SEC team. He can't get by blocks at all and is slow.

There is no point knowing your assignments if you can't make a play.

Did Les call a timeout to put Louis in? I would hate for us to get confused and have 12 men on the field.

I have re-watched all the wins, but I cannot watch the losses- especially the Ole Miss game, too painful...
