How is John Curtis projected higher in playoff seeds than UHigh?

We (Uhigh) are undefeated and John Curtis is likely to end with two losses. How could John Curtis have a stronger power ranking for playoff seating with only 9 games played and 2 losses when we will have played ten and if all things remain the same we will also have undefeated record?
Please explain!

Definitely SOS. theirs is 7.83 compared to your 4.83

It's something to do with wins by the teams you play.
I don't remember the formula, but losing to a strong team doesn't hurt you in a lot of cases.
It encourages teams to schedule the perennial powerhouses.

It's strictly numbers. You get 10 points for a win, plus 1 point for every win the team you played gets. Then 2 points for every class up your opponent is above yourself. So if Curtis beats a 9-1 5A team they get 10 for the win, 9 for the other team's wins, and 4 for playing up two classes. So that win is worth 23 points. If you beat a winless 3A team you get 10 points.

I don't know the answer to your question. Just wanted to thank you for starting a thread that isn't just a circle jerk of butthurt.

So we need to go out and schedule the top teams in the country just to get a fair shake on playoff seating next year...what's fricked up is we could possibly finish #1 overall in Division II and still have to travel in the playoffs!

Not necessarily top teams in the country. Think about this. If you play a 5-5 5A team you get 19 points for that win. You'd have to be the only loss for a 1A-3A team to get the same amount of points. Conversely if you lose that game you get 9 points which is only 1 less than a winless 1A-3A team. Basically, load up with middle of the road/weak 5A teams and really raise your power ranking.

JCCS has played St Thomas Aquinas, St Aug, Karr, and some big New Jersey team. It's SOS, man.

Because Curtis has played a bunch of really good teams. Pretty simple

As i remember it, you don't get home field advantage all the way through.

Play somebody and earn your points. High seed gets the home game on week one. Then it goes to who traveled last. Seeds break ties I think.

JC bias, he owns the state power ranking officials.

played more teams above class and with winning records.
karr, st. aug east st john greater value than
lagrange, redemptorist and tc....mush greater..
I wouldn't worry much about the power ratings.. gotta get through curtis or st. thomas m... to win state anyway.. and either one of those will be a handful.. the other will be a double handful..
playing curtis in november. .is no different than december.. maybe even harder in december because of their depth.
and where you play them in the playoffs. matters not...they don't have a home field advantage.

number one ranked and number 1 power rating are very different things...
everyone travels at some point in the playoffs...
and actually I am not certain how much advantage they gain if any playing the out of state schools..
but a brutal non district schedule helps you in power rating no matter how you slice it..

and some coaches know the system much better than others..
hence randomly losing games.... to be on opposite side of bracket with the gorilla in the room...
and don't take this the wrong way.. the only team in their class with a real shot at dealing with the school in river ridge is the cougars from laffy....
and that is if no lawsuit comes along and breaks up the current playoff scenario.. either way.. the schools we are associated with will still have..
curtis
