As great of a coach that "Cholly Mac" was, he just could not finish. His teams were consistently losing the important games. Ole Miss, Alabama and Bowl Games.

Could Miles be Cholly Mac part deux?

Coach Mac stayed 18 years, with the last years being painful for both Coach Mac and LSU

Aside from 2007, could they be on a parallel course.........your thoughts

On the post-game show last night, it sure sounded like Alan Risher thinks this.

comparing les to mac is just going to make the miles defenders dig in harder and point to the 80s and 90s as omg see what happens when you replace a coach.

Not wishing...just looking if their paths may be similar.

edit:...I remember the big ups and downs during the Cholly Mac era. I see similarities to the Miles era.

LSU is not tennessee. Tennessee and Nebraska both are shells of their former glory but neither has to do with firing coaches that weren't title winners. It comes down the way football is played shifting and them making bad hires.

The 80's weren't as bad as people make out. We won 2 SEC's that decade. What happened at LSU was we didn't have TAF then like we do now and people didn't have to take out a second mortgage for season tickets that they do now. The good ole boy s club which hated Brodhead who was ahead of his time gave us Joe Dean who was fine with mediocrity.
One thing regarding Coach Mac is that he was loyal to LSU and was once much more money by A&M to coach there. He turned it down to stay at LSU. Last year Miles pulled that bullshite regarding the Arkansas job for his $500,000 increase and 7 year extension. Miles ain't giving us the results that Urban Meyer and Saban are giving for the same pay.

yea, i usually bring that up in irl when discussing why we wont return to the 90s if we got rid of miles. The taf is around and we have money now. Its been said today but people are scared for LSU to take that leap from historic top 12 program into the top 10 and beyond. the resources and everything we need is at our feet. the last 10 years has shown us its possible but we have to do something to keep it going.
