This was the time to throw the ball. The clock will stop at the 2 min warning anyway. Hard play action there gives you a good chance of making a completion. Damn good game, but I think Payton pissed this one away.

incomplete pass with 2:02 left on the clock than this place would have exploded saying why the F are you passing it.

A 10 second pass play? You better be throwing deep.

Better that than running up the gut into a stacked line and have the Pats call time out a second later.

Only if it's a 10 second play.

Most plays don't last that long.

If it goes incomplete it is highly likely there is 2:02 left on the clock.

only play I would have accepted would be a screen pass but that is still to risky. Alll the eyes are on the RB everyone is expecting run os they wouldn't over pursue run is the obvious call.

Didn't really have a problem with any of Payton's late calls except the throw to Colston. Guy hadn't done shite all game and you're going to throw a prayer down field to a guy that is well defended? Throwing the ball is fine, but you need to make high percentage throws.

But, but we need to establish the run game and commit to it.

Point is you have a better chance of getting a first down, or at least getting some positive yardage, with Brees throwing than you do running on a situation where the whole stadium knows you're going to run it.

um no an impcomplete is much worse than running it to get it to the 2 min warning.

Most teams can convert a first down on the ground. Especially when you need it that bad. Execution is key. One thing we didn't do

but if its incomplete you give one of the best 4th QRT QBS 2 min to score.

Um... newsflash... running the ball gave him two chances to score with under two minutes left. So there goes your theory.

Saints had the ball twice in the last 3 min. First series they ran the ball 3 times for 5 yards. Second series they ran the ball 3 times for negative yardage. At what point do you try something different? I still think you take your shot on 2nd down.
