The NFL has come down on Brandon Marshall and his plan to wear green shoes when the Chicago Bears play the New York Giants on Thursday night. Marshall planned to wear the shoes to bring attention to Mental Health Awareness Week, but the league informed Marshall that he would not be allowed on the field.

The NFL will figure out a way to make $$$ off of this sooner or later.

I wonder if this will gather steam considering the head injury debate and link to Mental Health.

The NFL better be ready with a good response if it does.

The same crap happened when Peyton Manning wanted to wear high tops as a tribute to Johnny Unitas. It's better to ask for forgiveness instead of permission in these kinds of cases.

I think mental health is more psychiatric and concussions are more neurological type problems.

Marshall has said he planned to pay the fine and match it with a donation to charity.

I'm not kidding. We all know this pepto bismol covered bullshite is to attract more fans, which basically means to attract more female fans and make money off of them (since they'd be wearing that pink shite) since you have majority of men reeled in already. It's not like we haven't been beat over the head with this in every facet of life while neglecting deadlier health issues and ones that certainly need more "support" than breast cancer at this juncture.

Good for Marshall using the media to get the upper hand though. Definitely something that needs greater awareness and support. Most impressed with his reason for acknowledging it as well:

quote:

Mental Health Awareness Week began last Sunday, and runs through Saturday. The cause is dear to Marshall, who suffers from borderline personality disorder and has been a public advocate for those who suffer from mental illness since opening up about his own struggles.
