I'm guessing people see this:
And they might say "look at that. This fat white guy wearing "Redskins" gear. White people took the name Redskin, and commercialized it. Now you have all of these white fans, maybe even black fans, etc. exploiting Native American culture for their own pleasure while the reality is that they kicked Natives off their land and put them on reservations and now their communities are in shambles. White people ruined the Native Americans, and now they are exploiting them. Dressing up like them, laughing, smiling, and carrying on."
This is because these PC liberals see all white people as racist. Automatically. Or they have "white guilt". So if they name a team the "Redskins", they clearly aren't doing it because they see Native American tribes as strong, prideful, noble, etc... you know... things that would be a good representation of their team. They are exploiting them for racist reasons.

Look, if you were trying to get a Native American's attention you aren't going to say, "Hey redskin!". Just like you wouldn't say hey ****, honky, spic or chink. So if redskin isn't a word you would use in civil conversations, why would it be acceptable to name a football team redskins?
