I'm so confused; so does this book have new ASOIAF information or is it copied and pasted from POV sections that we've seen already?

are there previous POV chapters from 200 years in their past? Prob not.

I just started reading the books a year ago and I already want to kill this guy. I can't imagine reading them as they came out.

It's hard not to hate him if you read his blog.

It comes across that he actually writes one day out of ten, and then after a month at that breakneck pace he calls for the need for a vacation.

In addition,, he takes a month off to recover from a high profile Giants loss, two months if it was a playoff season ender.

If Obama had lost the past election, he probably would have taken 6 months off. As it is, all of the Obamacare failings probably has him so stressed out he is taking it easier than normal.

It's why the last one had so much more sexually charged exposition compared to the first books: he had to keep throwing in fan boyish erotic vignettes to keep his interest.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about the dragons and zombies, but I could do with a little less gay weiner - is all.

I started these books just as SoS came out in Hardback. That had to be like...2000, 2001 if I remember correctly.

Then I waited years for AFFC. Then years longer for aDwD. Its been pretty miserable.

In the time its taken him to write two books, I graduated college, law school, got established in my career, met my future wife, dated her for several years, got married.

I mean...come on man.

And that's being generous.

I don't begrudge someone getting rich and enjoying their life, but his blog started pissing me off so much I had to stop reading it.

Hell, not just that.

Even Dany getting wet every time Daario walks by gets tedious.

If I had to read about her musing about being jealous of the naked women on his sword one more time....

Don't get me wrong. I'm not being prudish.

I just thought he hit the right note of it earlier in the story.

The scenes with Tyrion and his whore in the first three books served a purpose.

I waited over 10 years for another Tyrion/Jon POV and I could barely finish ADWD.

I don't know if I just changed a lot, but I found the book to be exceptionally tedious.

The last 2 books are incredibly tedious; what made ADWD disappointing/slow paced were clearly the non-Arya Essos chapters. I was accustomed to Dany only having like 6 or 7 chapters/book. She had 10 in AGOT but her story was actually interesting in it. Whereas ADWD we have 10 Dany chapters, 12 Tyrion chapters that are boring as shite, JonCon, Quentyn, etc. and there's a block of about 6 Essos chapters back to back that made me cringe. There are no Westeros POV's in the middle of that to break up the monotony. Plus he ends every character POV as a huge cliffhanger which is cheap. Oh and no Sansa POV's, which is bullshite. To me, her story is one of the most interesting and haven't heard anything new about her since 2005. Plus Martin hasn't pre-released any Stark kid POVs for TWoW so frick him!

Word is late next year, HBO is pushing on. There was an interview this week in the Santa Fe paper where he mentioned he needed to "lay the tracks".

Sweet. I'll have to cut ties with anybody that watches the show and restrict my media entertainment to strictly live sports to avoid spoilers

I would stop watching the show and reading the books if he does that.

And whoever said that his blog proves that he's a lazy frick is 100% accurate. He just got back to the States from being in Australia and New Zealand for a month....doubtful that he did any writing during that time.

He openly says he does not write a thing when he's away from home.

He writes on one old computer in a room in his house. And that's it. No where else. So...

Just finished aDwD today. Luckily I didnt start reading the series until July so I never had to wait for a book until now.

Is there anything out regarding Robet's Rebellion?

Yeah, I got to the middle of book 4 of that one and realized how much was left to go, the quality was declining, and the author died without finishing it. It was time to quickly:
