Just finished Olympus has fallen and overrall I thought it was really good. I always enjoy Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman and Gerard Butler has been growing on me since playing for keeps and Coriolanus. The action was intense and I loved how they really played up the severity of the situations. Morgan Freeman really made me feel like he was the Speaker of the House thrust into this leadership role.

Now my question is has anyone else seen it an if so how does it compare to White House Down. I feel like Channing Tatum and Jamiee Foxx driving around in limos shooting RPGs may just be a little too over the top.

If you're white, Olympus has fallen is better

If you're black, White House Down is better

I liked it, but it wasn't anything super special.

If you liked Die Hard, then you should like OHF...very similar premise just set in the White House instead of Nakatomi Tower.

jesus christ .. comparing Die Hard to Olympus is fricking sacrilegious. Die Hard is maybe THE best action movie ever made. OHF can't hold Die Hard's jock strap. Crappy special effects, predictable boring story line, Gerard Butler was atrocious.. i think he went through at least 3 different accents in the film. Just all around a C- movie at bes.

only a retard could come up with this conclusion

I liked Olympus better because of the drama aspect instead of comedy and more realistic...even though neither was really realistic

I said the premise is very similar. And that is true.

I never said or implied that OHF is on any sort of same level of awesomeness as Die Hard. Few are.

Of course. There are plenty of "wrong place, wrong time" movies. In addition to all of the Die Hards you also have Under Siege, Nick of Time, Speed, Masterminds..

I thought this movie was laughably bad. So many cliches rolled into 90 minutes. The belligerent general who just wants to attack first, attack later"God Dammit!!!", the broken hero, the tug at your patriotic strings, the honorable president. and they would have us believe that 2 five digit codes could make every nuke in America simeoultaneously detonate? My IPad could have broken that code in about 2 minutes. I may have lol in the theatre more than I did for the first Hangover.

It's an objective observation based on the millions and millions of threads comparing the two on this board.

Nice to see you bring this bullshite persona to other boards.

OHF was great for what it is, a summer popcorn flick. It was entertaining, and better than White House Down IMO.

What are you babbling about now troll?

There are as many people who think OHF sucked balls as think it was good. Not sure how that's playing up a persona.

Never saw White House Down so I can't compare the two.

OHF had me bored out of my skull though, and the acting, story line and production quality were all piss poor. Anybody who knows anything about well-done action movies should realize this.

Probably people expecting more than what the movie set out to do.

Do yourself a favor and don't. Jamie Foxx is the definition of trying too hard in that movie, and I usually like his movies.

I just can't see that. The movie was nonstop action after setting up what minimal plot there was.

You're looking for something that was never intended to be there apparently.

So one's expectations that the filmmakers could achieve something on par with any other mediocre action flick - say, for instance: The Sum of all Fears - yet failed to even do that means they set their sights too high? lolz

Yeah. Too bad the "action" sucked.

Apparently they didn't intend to make a good movie.

I can't even imagine what it would take to have been bored by this movie.

Here's a few things to start with:

1) poor acting, cinematography, effects, directing

2) shitty dialogue on par with something a 16 year high school douche bag could write

3) expectations that a $70 million budget gets you a better quality film

4) having good taste in movies

Alright now we can look down our noses at things with R2R leading the way.

This movie wouldn't have even been rated by Zagat, ugh.
