Tom Gresham interviewed the CEO of Springfield Armory on his radio show yesterday. The CEO said that they think they have a solution to the problem, and once they have a fix everyone that sent in their XDs will be notified by email or text. So hopefully they will start getting some of the pistols back to the owners. I know I miss mine!

They think? I hope they are damn certain.

Wait, so everybody that sent their gun in just has a gun sitting on a Springfield shelf?

yep pretty much. The guy said that when they found out there was a problem the recall was issued, and they started working on a solution. Can't say I disagree with that.

Either their design was flawed or their design was not constructed properly. Either way, they should be able to fix the problem relatively quickly. That the guy said they "think" they have the problem figured out is rather disconcerting.

Springfield has determined that under exceptionally rare circumstances, some 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm and .45ACP caliber pistols could experience an unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once. The chance of these conditions existing is exceptionally rare, but if they happen, serious injury or death could occur.
