This is why League of Legends is an official sport.

20,000 people in seats to watch the World Finals of League of Legends. Not a single seat empty at the Staples Center right now. They could very easily sell out an even bigger stadium, IMO.
Not only have they sold out the Staples Center, but there are currently 581,000 people watching the on Twitch alone. 100,000 watching on YouTube.

When is the match?

Ahhhh wish I could watch.

Oh nice. Fairly new to league so I like watching the pros go at it.

I was checking this out earlier, last year over 8 million watched the LOL finals. For comparison, 6.5 million were watching the Yankees / tigers MLB playoff game the same night. Pretty wild

Yeah the friends I play with are both playing ranked so I get thrown in to games that I probably don't belong in. Still trying to find champions I like playing with.

Yeah it just seems like my friends get like 25 kills and I'm stuck with two every match. As long as we win I'm fine so I like playing with them.

quote:Playing with level 30's is a good way to get a leg up, but ONLY playing with level 30's when you're learning the game can also hinder your progress because you aren't getting the experience of actually getting ahead yourself. Being a sub 30 against level 30's is a huge disadvantage especially if you're below level 12. Not having all of the summoner spells and being 10-20 levels behind in terms of runes and masteries is a massive disadvantage on top of the experience difference.

Do runes and mastered make that big of a difference?

Yeah I guess. I usually just pick random ones because I didn't think they really mattered.

quote:They're a huge deal. Every champion guide comes with specific runes and masteries. The numbers may seem small, but when you play with full pages of runes and masteries then turn around and play with no runes and only 10 mastery points, it's a very noticeable difference.

Meh, StarCraft was doing this 15 years ago.

It was pretty cool to watch. I didnt watch anything until the finals. The espn style commentary was quite humorous at times. And everytime there was a group battle the place went crazy.

Are we talking about "sport" in the same sense that poker might be considered a sport?

I will be forever clueless as to why someone would play lol over dota 2.
