It has been 5 years since Georgia beat a ranked team from the Western Div.

I had no idea, but I picked up that gem from LINK
quote:
8. GEORGIA (2–1). No team has benefited more from the quirks of SEC scheduling than Georgia. In 2011, the Bulldogs' cross-division opponents from the West Division were Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Auburn (combined conference record: 6–18), and they repped the East in the conference championship game without taking down a single ranked opponent. In 2012, the cross-division draw gave them Ole Miss and Auburn (combined conference record: 3–13), and they repped the East in the conference championship game with only one ranked victim, Florida. (The Gators' draw from the West: LSU and Texas A&M.) No such luck this year, with LSU coming to Athens this weekend in a defining game for both sides. If Georgia wins, it will be its first victory over a ranked opponent from the West since 2008.
I'm assuming that win was over LSU.

means zilch. i will agree that the LSU/Florida series puts both LSU and Florida at a disadvantage every year, esp when uga and bama play NO powerhouse from the opposite divisions.

I hate these stats like this.
I feel like its a jinx and their due.
Then I realize each game is an independent event. Whomever is better that day, doesn't matter what happened in the past.

just googled. We were somehow ranked 13th in that game when Jarrett Lee went to work on our offense

No one says it means anything. It is funny. It also illustrates how Georgia and Richt in particular had their perceptions changed by a very favorable draw from the west. Why does everyone enter a thread like and spout stupid platitudes like has no effect on Saturday. Who in the frick said it did? If you don't want to talk about the stat presented, you don't have to.

I should have trademarked this.

It's pretty strong. You and Mikelb are letting the good stuff get away.

We've gone 7-6 vs the west in that time span, which I know isn't great. But of those 6 losses, 3 of the teams played in the national championship game (2 won, and the other was '11 LSU).
Our 3 losses to non-championship game teams during that span were to LSU in 2009 (we all know what happened there) and to MSU and Arkansas in 2010 in our worst season in 2 decades.

I don't care. Spread it like wildfire.

Huh? From the time Richt has been here until the SEC expanded we've had the exact same schedule rotation as everybody else. Some years we had a good draw, some years we had bama, lsu, and auburn in the same year.
How exactly has our draw been more favorable than anyone elses?

Until Georgia fans stop being bitches and open up their team board: explain it to my army of Jays.

Wow I just read an article where Georgia hasn't lost a regulars season game to a ranked west opponent in a shite ton of years.
See how that crap works.

Then I realize each game is an independent event.

Well in the 4 years since then they have played 8 SEC West games and Auburn. How many teams were actually ranked for them to even have a chance to beat a ranked team?

A whole boat load in 2009, 2010, and two title games in 2011 and 2012.
