Like I said, many irons I the fire. "Barnhart & Durham" on 790 the zone was the best CFB show I've ever listened to.

We are building key depth for the stretch run to combat the offenses we will face this year.

Chavis said we have the best 11 on defense in the SEC, his worry was the depth behind it. It's why we have played everyone except the towel boy in the first 4 games on D.

No Buck & Kincaid is the best cfb show over there cause he's a UGA homer.

When I first moved to Atl in the late 80's Tony pissed me off because he pretty much just talked about teams in the east (UGA, UF, UT) however I can now appreciate that since the east was so much better back then. He gave us a little respect when we beat the Vols for the SEC title but didn't really get LSU until after we beat Da Dawgs for the SEC Championship in 03. He was part of the naysayers who thought our win at home in 03 was luck.

After 2003 he started to really believe in LSU and thought Saban was nuts to leave Baton Rouge. Said Saban's ego overruled his brain. Since then I believe he has been pretty good as he realized the balance of power shifted and he started doing much more research one the teams in the west.

I think he means the team as a whole is a lot better than last year, and the team consists of more than just defense. The positive improvement on offense, is way more than enough to compensate for the loss of a little on defense. IMO.

whole team is better because offense is better. no way this team would play a game like 12-10 auburn last year. when you can't score (last year) then every game is a potential problem. not so this year.

Amen to this.

Agree. Tony used to always pick against us. Busted our balls a lot. My hatred ran deep for Schlabach. He pissed and moaned about the '03 UGA win when he was their beat writer. He was so sure they were the better team and just knew they would set things straight in the '03 sec champ game. And my god does he slobber Saban's knob. Never credits Miles. That smug little smart arse.

Barnhart is usually pretty solid on his takes but i imagine he also did it to piss off the AJC readers

Barnhart rarely gives LSU credit, picks us to lose big games most of the time, and is easily distracted by shiny things.

I never listen to him.

I don't think that this team is better than last year. The defense has to prove it and the offense has to move the ball when it matters. I don't know if the defense can stop anyone when they have to. That is a huge part of the game.

We don't have playmakers on the defensive side of the ball.

The defense needs to step up. Until that happens, this team is not as good as last year or the last 3 years.

We'll see.

Barnhart sees a QB and is going gaga over a passing offense. What he doesn't know about winning football though is pretty large. I have little respect for him.

I hate to say it, but it is true.

Last year - meh offense, great defense
This year - GREAT offense, good defense

The special teams is not nearly as important when the offense is converting third downs. The kicker has been fine and the punter hasn't even needed to punt. LSU's return game with Beckam Jr this season has been better as well.

So how is this team not better? The defense is still loaded with incredible talent all around.

Totally agree with everything here...

Also, OBjr's return stats could easily have a TD added if he would not have went out of bounds at tbe 3 yd line that one time when he did not have to.
