...been tearing through shows on HBOGO.

I think The Sopranos is my favorite show -- better than Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and The Wire (loved all of these as well).

Am I crazy? Is this just the effect I'm getting because I'm watching this show currently (I'm almost done season 3)?

Independently of how good the show is, Tony Soprano has to be one of the best, if not the best character to be on the screen.

Great show.

Just wait until the final moment. You'll love it.

Ive seen every episode at least five times and it comes on one of the HBO channels every night and I still watch. It achieved a level of drama that has been unmatched until Breaking bad in my opinion. But what is the amazing thing about the Sopranos is that it also is one of the funniest shows ever made. I cant recall a show that makes me laugh like this one did.

I've never get the blues about an actor dying , but Gandolfini's death hit me hard. He created the greatest television character of all time in my opinion. If you dig it as much as you say early on, im sure you will feel the same.

i can't disagree...Tony's relationship with his boys, wife, kids, mother, and therapist are all wonderful to watch.

Yeah.... He shouldn't criticize The Sopranos by comparing them to a mediocre coach like Miles.

I agree that Saban is a good comparison with BB.

I think it compares more to The Shield, than The Wire or Breaking Bad, but, no - I watched it (and The Wire, for that matter) with very high expectations and it met/exceeded most of them. You probably are boosting it a little because you're watching it right now.

Very few can argue with that. Gandolfini always brings something to a role, but he pretty much was Tony Soprano.

Certainly Chiklis' Vic Mackey, Cranston's Walter White and Gandolfini's Tony Soprano are my top 3 dramatic television characters of all time.

About the only weakness of The Wire is that there isn't a single dominant personality, with Allen's McNulty being the closest, but it was the most true ensemble of these 4 wonderful shows (although GoT is also very much a show about the ensemble, as well, rather than any single character).

I guess because of the genre - it is tougher to compare GoT with the others, but it is more of an apples-to-apples comparison than would appear on the surface. I was literally hooked after about 2 minutes. So, I guess I should add it and make a "Big 5".

i'll never be able to see him as anyone else...sucks that he's gone.

cold-blooded killer/hardened criminal, but a good man? do people like this exist IRL?

...finished season 3 last night..phenomenal show.

the way he treats Carmilla(sp?) vs. the way he treats anyone else who gives him grief.
