30-year-old Croce, his lead guitarist Maury Muehleisen, 24, and four others were killed on a charter flight take-off from Natchitoches, Louisiana where he had just performed at Northwestern State University on the way to his next performance at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

Playing NSU & headed for Sherman, TX. Not exactly the most glamorous road stops.

My mom went to that concert. She said it was pretty insane to wake up and hear the news after just seeing him.

Yeah, I saw on Behind the Music or something where he was first booked to play NW when he didn't really have many big hits. He got sick and couldn't play, but promised he would keep his contract. Soon after he blew up with a bunch of hits and instead of buying out the contract, he still went to NW.
