They had this discussion yesterday morning on winging it wednesday on 96.5. That douche Mike Stagg swears it is corruption on the damage to the roof was due to not properly maintaining it.

It's vandalism because it doesn't belong to him

Nitwitt fears the tyranny of Obama because it's not the tyranny he likes.

A public monument belongs to him and vandalism requires damage.

Good point. I think after reading this, I'm changing my mind.

Also people were leaving flowers etc on the monument.

Not so sure about this. Anything memorializing something that affected our state/country would receive the same giveafrickedness.

I am kinda in the middle. I believe in free speech as much as the next guy, but this is distasteful and disrespectful. I do think it is technically within his rights, but the argument that he attached something rather than simply placing something at the base of it is interesting.

I think the guy pictured in the article who is supportive of it comes off sounding like an idiot.

“I think Sal has done something a lot of people have tried to do, which is spark a communitywide discussion about the need for a more artistic Lafayette,” Comeaux said. “In five minutes, he managed to spark the community-wide discussion.”

Does he seriously think a discussion about art was sparked by this?

Not entirely - I saw your question mark posted and assumed you were asking my opinion. I guess not.

Is the monument privately owned? If not, he should be able to do whatever he wants to it.

I don't give a crap about it. If he damaged property, sure, but if not, let him go.
