Working for a large utility company

There is a job posted on the school website for an analyst position at a large utility services company. The pay is not listed, but from what I can gather on glassdoor.com, it is pretty competitive, if not higher than average.

However, the reviews are all over the place. The recurring themes seem to be that it's quite bureacratic and they are slow to promote, similar to working for government. The pay is good because they have a somewhat "guaranteed" income every year and expected price increases every year.

Has anyone worked for that type of company? Does any of that sound familiar?

TIA

I worked for NRG. Sounds about right.

It varies from company to company and department to department.

Is this an EMS analyst? By utility do you mean power generation or distribution?

My gf is an Analyst for Centerpoint Energy in Houston.

Sounds about right to me. She's way underpaid for what she does and is even told so, but no promotions due to years of experience.

Idk what you consider "good" pay. It's not bad, but she could do a similar job for an Oil major and make 20% more easily.

I believe they do both with coal, natural gas and nuclear.

Supply chain analyst.
