GTA V Review

IGN gave it a 10 and metascore gave it a 98 because some douche gave a 70 rating. Other than that its received 100's and 98's throughout with a couple of 90's.

Gamespot gave it a 9/10 because the woman who reviewed it said it degraded women and politically incorrect.

the girl on ign.com said similar things. But, she also mentioned that the satire in this game makes it awesome.

I think there's some value to these reviews that offer a dissenting opinion. Should every outlet get a GTA fanatic to review GTA V? Does it hurt to have an opinionated female review it? I'm sure there are some female gamers interested in this latest installment. Maybe they'd like to know if they'd be offended?
Same with the Escapist review where the author said the protagonists in V are more corrupt than previous games in the series. Personally, I'd rather be the good guy in my games but I concede I'll be playing as a villain when I play a GTA title. However, I like hearing someone's opinion who isn't prepared to make the concession. There's an audience for that. If you read the text of that review, it's well written and reasoned but I think people see the '7' and take it as some sort of personal offense. I don't get that.

You have to remain impartial when reviewing things. It sounds like this woman was offended bc the game goes against what she believes in and thus rated it poorly. That is wrong imo.

I don't think that's possible. Every person is going to bring with them their own opinions about what is entertaining, interesting, offensive, hilarious, etc. They can't (and shouldn't, imo) try to turn that off when reviewing a game or a movie or anything else meant mostly for entertainment.
In fact, the reviews I trust most come from reviewers who share similar tastes with me. If they tried to review games like some sort of impartial robot their opinion would lose all value.
Having said that, I like hearing an opinion that contrasts the crowd even if I'm part of that crowd. Does GTA V really need yet another 10/10 review to echo the same exact thoughts as everyone else? Is a 9/10 review going to impact sales and send Rockstar into financial ruin?
And if a woman were to ask me if they'd like GTA V, I might point them to this Gamespot review before sending them to the droves of reviews echoing the same exact sentiment of "Greatest game ever."
