I can't believe all the Edelman hype this week. The guy has a good week and people are treating him as a WR1? What gives?

No Amendola, no Gronk, no Vereen, no Welker, no Hernandez, no Lloyd. His only competition for targets this week are rookies, and the Pats clearly like him as they were actually playing him over Welker early last season

I think it's because Brady has LITERALLY one other person to throw to.

Im not on the train either, but NE isnt a run first team, and no amendola and gronk. Someone has to catch the ball, and the young guys looked terrible last weekend. Edelman is the only one brady trusts.

I can just as easily see Thompkins, Dobson, or some random guy we have never hear of having a good game. Why Edelman over anyone else? What seperates him as the clear #1?

Ridley fumbles once and becomes forgotten about.

The Patriots throw enough to support more than one WR having a good game...

Because he's the only one that's not a rookie. And he had a really good game last week. And he had some really good games last year. And the Pats tried to play him over Welker last year before he got hurt. And the rookies all sucked last week.

His quarterback is Tom Brady and everyone else active are rookies. It's not like you think he'll be a monster all year, but this week it appears he's in line for a big week.

If it doesn't hit, whatever he was a WW pickup.

Yeah man, can totally see that

Thompkins looked great in week 1, and Dobson may be active tonight!

The Pats dont have the talent on the outside to stretch the field, and will have to rely on short, quick passes... something Edelman can excel at. Hes also somebody thats been with Brady for a while, so I assume Brady trusts him

Hes not gonna light the world on fire, but Ill take him if I have to choose one of the Patriot WRs

the WR's expected to play tonight for NE have a combined 81 NFL catches.

Edelman has 76 of them.

They annually have a top 5 NFL offenses and have one of the best QB's in the game.

Percentages say Edelman should be targeted heavily.

How will it affect his catches if instead of having a Defense's nickel back checking him, now he's got a #1 or #2 DB on him?

Tom Brady averages around 25 completions per game.

Last week was 29, broken out by:

Amendola 10
Edelman 7
Vareen 7
Thompkins 4
Hooomanawanui 1

17 of the 29 aren't there this week. Say he completes 20, what's the a reasonable scenario for Edelman? 5 receptions? 7? 10?

Well if he doesn't, the patriots will probably lose.

shite, I wouldn't play anyone in this game and reasonably expect anything, but I do think kembrell fidna get alot more targets, about twice as many. That's how it worked last week and now they are without danny amendola, unless you think all of those targets are going edelman's way...kembrell is the correct play between the two

I've got better receivers to worry about. Also, another reason I love smaller leagues. I am faced with tough decisions of the who to start variety.

If edleman catches 6 passes for 40 yards I'll be happy

If he gets into the endzone, then he's more than worth the waiver
