Serious question: Why hasn't the offense been able to set up a decent screen pass over the last couple of years? They haven't tried many, but when they did the results weren't so great, unless I'm forgetting something.

Is it a play that just takes lots of practice to perfect and Cam's had other more important priorities? Other reasons?

This offense has been so fun to watch, but IMO a well executed screen is a thing of beauty.

Do you really expect us to use every single play in the playbook each week?

We haven't been pressured too many times in order to need to offset the pass rush.

I'm not so much worried about the screen pass on Offense as much as I'm worried about it on Defense. Our corners have to get off their blocks and get to the line of scrimmage and force that shite inside. It's frustrating to see teams man handle us. That isn't our identity as a team and especially not as a defense. To answer your question Cam has probably worked on this, but not to the extent of the other stuff because there hasn't been a lot of time to get the timing and play calling and a two deep rotation of players ready for gameday. It'll come IMO

Good point, but this goes back to last year as well. I guess it's more a question of "what does it take to run a good screen pass?"

I think it has a lot to do with the timing of the play. I said this from Day One. In the NFL the screen play is a 2 second play from snap to QB release. In college, it takes a bit more time to set up. You have to really invite the rushers or blitzing players in before dropping it off. I think Cam and the offense will adjust with time.

The rules are different so it's hard to compare to NFL. In college, OL is allowed downfield before the ball is thrown. IMO, that is much easier for defenses to detect and blow up.

I'd rather see swing passes and option routes to the RB than running screens.
