9/7 Qualifiers

Mostly Africa today, but some groups are tight.
Remember in this phase, 10 groups of 4. Winners advance to a two-leg playoff for the 5 CAF World Cup berths.
Already through: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Egypt, Algeria.
If you recall, Ethiopia had secured top spot in Group A after Matchday 5, but after it was determined they used an ineligible player against Botswana, they gave South Africa a lifeline.
Right now, RSA lead Botswana 1-0 and Ethiopia trail Central African Republic 1-0 about 30 minutes in. South Africa would go through if these results hold.

Ethiopia draw level with C.A.F. on 48 minutes. Things starting to get interesting there.
ETA: As it stands, both sides (South Africa and Ethiopia) would have 11 points. Goal difference in all group games is the universal first tiebreaker in WC qualifying. South Africa have the edge there. Ethiopia need to win as RSA are now 2-0 up.

Ethiopia score on 61 minutes to take a 2-1 lead. If the win holds, Ethiopia are into the final round.

FT in Group A:
South Africa 4-1 Botswana
Central African Republic 1-2 Ethiopia
Ethiopia are through to the final round of qualifying.
Nigeria currently playing Malawi for another spot. Nigeria a point ahead of Malawi in that group.

Thanks for the breakdown, I had forgotten about all the ineligible player nonsense

Don't feel like starting another thread. Brazil is brutalizing Australia in the first half: 3-0 (Jo, Jo, Neymar)

Definitely a stunner as Cape Verde won 2-0 on the road to advance.
