ESPN - If we took a time machine to 2014, the first year of a four-team playoff:

• No. 1 seed Clemson vs. No. 4 seed LSU. Hey, everybody, it's last season's Chick-fil-A Bowl, but without mor chikin. By the way, Clemson won that one, 25-24.

• No. 2 seed Alabama vs. No. 3 seed Oregon. The only thing better -- and this has nothing to do with the well-regarded, but first-year Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich -- is if it were Nick Saban matching X's and O's with former Oregon coach Chip Kelly. But like I said, Helfrich, De'Anthony Thomas, Marcus Mariota, etc., will do just fine. Angels would sing if we could get this matchup.

Alabama IMO opinion has been lucky to avoid Oregon these past few years. I just don't see 270lb LBs keeping up.

I'd love to play Bama again in a championship. Beating them in a championship game is the only thing that could possibly help get over what I witnessed in the Dome that night.

Agreed. Something much worse than 21-0. I would love nothing more than to give them a taste of their own medicine. Someday it will happen...

This much is clear, Clemson gave LSU more credibility with their win, and Cam gave LSU more credibility as a title contender. Everybody will be watching LSU more closely now.

I think what he is getting at is that Clemson has basically shown that they are the real deal and not a fluke. They escaped with a last second win after being down. The media might look at that game a little differently now that Clemson has beaten Georgia as well.

Clemson beating Uga and actually looking like it might actually be a title contender, makes LSU's loss to them last year seem not so bad...

Oregon would shite the bed against Alabama like they do every time they play a team with a defense. That "high powered" offense gets very timid when playing a real defense (i.e. Auburn, LSU, Stanford)

If LSU was playing Clemson in a playoff game last year instead of that shite bowl, I think we beat them by 14+. They had nothing to gain and Les let them mail it in. And I'm not even mad.

Guys, although both of you have great opinions, I am sure that I have seen how Saban deals with teams that can run circles around his oversized defense. Essentially, he has fast guys in the wings.

Saban has always been a bully. He has taken it to the extreme in Bama though. He fields an oversized 3-4 that essentially bumps the receivers so that they can't get into their routes and he blitzes from different angles nearly every play since he has the 4 so called LBs to play around with.

It really is just a 5-2 defense if you ask me. His oversized cbs just has to bump and cover for a moment before the QB is in a bind/ When he comes across a team that can get a passing game going, he simply replaces whoever is having problems bullying his receiver with a better cover guy. If the opponent has luck with hitting their RB or TE out of the backfield then he replaces one of his so called LBs (a chavis DE) with what the chief would call an OLB that is pretty much a decent cover safety with a little extra arse.

So would Oregon give Bama issues with their "High Flying Offense?". I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT BOYS

Lets give the hated gumps their props, any Bama team going into their Bowl game in this era will have solidified it's defense to a level that Oregon will not be able to step up to. It's that simple.

They would score some but not enough.

Oregon struggles against teams with d-lineman who can penetrate, allowing the D to remain rather vanilla behind them. Disrupt the read option and stretch zone, and Oregon isn't quite so "high-powered" Boise State did it, then LSU did, then Stanford.

Having to dial up blitzes to get pressure on Oregon isn't ideal. But I mean that in the traditional sense of blitzes being 5-6 defenders. Saban and Alabama have always seemed to take a more NFL style approach, using more intricate zone blitz schemes where they may be overloading one side or bringing backers, but they are still only bringing 4. Alabama is just too talented and well coached defensively to make me think Oregon would give them fits.

The game would be interesting only because the only comparable offense Alabama has seen the last several years has been A&M. Then you'd have to go back to 2010 Auburn to find the next comparable hurry up. Both were losses. My money would still be on Alabama, but I'd pay to watch it.
