Currently watching S2 of BB, & I have a Hank question

Just an observation from someone who started watching Breaking Bad a few days ago (and I'm in the middle of Season 2 right now):
Hank has had to suspect that something suspicious is going on with Walt, right? He took him to a drug/crime scene in S1, knows that he has missing lab equipment, goes missing for days, coincidentally back after Tuco dies, questioned Jesse's mother about them?? Unless I'm completely overestimating Hank's intelligence and he really just loves cracking Shania Twain jokes. But I'd appreciate if someone could help me out here without revealing any further spoilers.

Walt is so straight edged, and Hank is so close to him, that i can see how he never catches on.

Not at the point in time you're watching. Just relax and enjoy the show.

He has no idea about Walt at this point.

He thinks Walt is a huge geek/pussy, and he respects him zero.

At the time, I thought the same.

SPOILERS
Im guessing that is what you were looking for with such a dumb thread. Watch the show.
Or, if you really want to know, Hank is a dumbass and Walt is not. Chemistry teacher > GED cop.

You have the benefit of knowing Walter is guilty.

This.
You already know what he's doing. You have to view it from Hank's eyes and base it on his past interactions with him and his family. He has no reason to suspect Walt, you as the viewer have inside knowledge, that's why you would think Hank should know whats going on

Hank is a dogged investigator that loves his family. You understand how those two things could be in conflict when the investigative target happens to be close to him (without him knowing it), right?
I don't think I can say more without getting really spoilerish.

It's very easy to believe Hank could overlook Walt, for so many reasons. He couldn't even begin to fathom that Walt was/is capable of such an operation. And let's pretend Hank didn't think Walt was such a huge, passive pussy, he's just way too close. Blinded by love etc.
That combination = not a fricking clue.

Hank and Marie are very close to Skyler, Walt and the kids. And Hank thinks Walt is just a boring chemistry nerd. That's how he has such a gigantic blind spot.

Thanks everyone.
I'm really enjoying the show and I hope I can catch up to when the series finale ends.

It is also worth keeping in mind that Walt has been in cancer treatment, and Hank tends to treat it like Hank is going to die on Skylar any moment.

Just started this show last weekend. Just got to where walt meets Gus.
This is a great show, can't wait to catch up on it.
I keep thinking the same thing, like Hank has to know. It's just too coincidental. Walt's dealer's car being at a remote house with a Meth Kingpin.
But maybe it's that Walt is so straight laced that he just is that unassuming.
Walt's Wife is up his arse too and is very snoopy.

I hate Skyler. She's so self-centered and really has no sympathy that he has terminal cancer and just assumes he's screwing women on the side when he's trying to do right for her and Walt Jr.

I hate her too, but all women think their man is cheating when he acts shady.
lol

Well..when Skyler married Walter she thought she knewwhat she was getting. The show is for the most part..from Walt's point of view. Imagine if it was from Skyler's point of view. Husband has cancer while she is pregnant..pushing 40 plus the pain that has come with a son who has palsy, having to watch him struggle and deal with bullshite.
Now imagine finding out the man she is hurting for and trying to get closer to..is pushing away and etc(would be obvious spoilers).
But, I can understand why most people don't like her. It's hard to hate on Walt.
Your question with Hank,..he'd never suspect Walt of..basically having the balls to be "Heisenberg". Especially in the first season. You'll notice his respect of him does grow after watching him battle cancer. But, he just sees Walt as an underachieving, nerdy smart guy brothernlaw.
