Consider if we had completely shut down TCU, holding them to under 100 yards, but struggled offensively and won 10-0 or 13-3. Same point spread, but we wouldn't be getting as much favorable attention. People have more respect for an offensive juggernaut than a defensive one. Maybe that's unfair, but it's the case.

Well, look at Florida now. Their defense was great against Toledo, but.......

Agree 100%

First games are always tough cause you nor anyone, including the coaches know exactly how a team will respond to any number of factors

This team seems to have a great chance to improve in the upcoming weeks. A game like that confirms somewhat the hard work they've put in so far

And you're posting some good stuff today

Yep. But a decent offense coupled with a shut-down defense is a pretty good formula in the SEC.

LSU's defense should NOT be held responsible for a lot of the points scored on Saturday. They did their jobs pretty well and will get even better by the time the grind of the SEC games begins.

Offense...except for the two missed blocks by running backs that led to sacks, the fumble on our own 6, the dropped passes ( one sure TD)...I was impressed.

Good mix of pass and run with good success. Good protection and good decisions by Mett. I liked the throw away passes when the plays didn't develop, rather than trying to scramble and create.

I'm pretty happy so far.

Holding any team to under 100 yards will get attention, not to mention a legit team. And TCU is legit.

I disagree. A 10-0 win where a ranked opponent never crosses midfield is pretty fricking dominant.

Agreed. The offense needed to improve and it looks like it has.

Another thing to consider is that TCU's has a solid offense. Pachall and Boykin are both good QB's, they have good running backs and TCU's recruits big linemen every year. Their receivers aren't great, but probably better than other teams.

While I somewhat agree, I think there's more to it. Anyone who watched saw a more complete offense and a fast, solid defense. They had 14 points off the Blue fumble and KO return.

I'm most excited about the way our offense performed away from home. To me our offense struggled the most away from tiger stadium last year.

Huh? One TD was on special teams. Another was the offenses fault. Defense could have held them to 13 points without those two things. Plus the penalty. All of those were because of small, fixable mistakes.

The offense is much improved. That what we needed, that's what we wanted and that's what's kept us from winning a BCSNC the last 2 years.

We appear to have an offense now and this makes us a contender and if nothing else, we don't look incompetent on one side of the ball with tons of talent getting wasted.

So yes, I think all of this helps national perception. And glad to see it.

Exactly. The D played very well. Obviously they can clean some things up but, it was the first game of the season. Give it time.
