Completely agree. Everyone I know in Louisiana loves it and I would say 90% of the reason is because the word saints is in the title.

I first saw it at age 19, so yes I love it. If me, at 28, saw it for the first time again, I doubt I'd love it like I did then.

So, its a cult classic with a thread full of people hating it. I like it, good popcorn flick.

So wait a minute... on this board in the past two days "Boondock Saints", with its witty dialogue and compelling characters, gets trashed while "Dredd", with none of that, gets high praise....

I don't get it.

I think it is a good movie but no masterpiece as said before. Cult movies tend to be forced on you as better than they are. Napoleon Dynamite wasn't that great. I can't begin to tell you how many people said The Hangover was the greatest comedy ever. shite like that.

It had a couple of good moments. The Russian guy slapping the Guinness out of our guy's hand and saying the bar's closed, get out. "Oh, so now ye'll be closing the bar, will ye?" And they proceed to chain him to a toilet, light him on fire and throw him out a window. Classic.

Then of course the monologue after shooting up the federal courthouse. Of course, for that one, you have to get over the idea of them shooting up a federal courthouse and walking away.

Not a great movie by any means, but most "cult" movies do suck.

I really enjoy it for what it's supposed to be.

Surprised at the number of people in this thread who think too highly of themselves that they can't enjoy this movie, especially based on some of the movies that do get praise on here.

Stupid line that Dafoe was able to pull off.

It was a stupid line in the script, and it was a stupid line in the movie.

I mean it was ok, but nothing deserving of cult classic status.

I enjoyed it. I feel it deserves cult status because of how well it is done. However, I completely understand how it would not be everybody's cup of tea.
