I'm gonna grab one tomorrow for my dad. He can no longer pull back his bear (circa 1980ish). He is living in Woodville now and will have plenty of time to hunt early this now season. I want to surprise him with it next week at the game in Dallas when I meet him up there. I'm pretty knowledgeable about bows, but have never really touched a crossbow. Any help is appreciated.

I'll be following this thread. My dads in the market. He just can't pull a bow back since he broke his collar bone a couple years ago.

This board is crossbow phobic.

But I have an Excalibur Axiom. Accurate as hell out to 50 yards (range finder used)

It's a recurve style so no wheels on the limbs.

Only crossbow I have ever shot, but I split a bolt down the pipe at about 40 yards. Very accurate, and like you said, the recurve limbs help out in quite a few ways.

I have a Barnett Rc 150. Its cheap 180 or so. I've killed both doe I shot at it with. Lost a hog. The range is limited to maybe 30 to 35 yards. Anything after that and it drops too much

I am in the market as well. I shot the Wicked Ridge at BP a few weeks ago. Very nice, just don't want to spend 600.00. I am currently leaning toward the PSE Reaper. I have been told by a few people to avoid the Barnetts. Waiting for the tax free weekend.

Barnett quad 400. It's good. Fast, and cheap.

Barnett and 10 Point get real good reviews. I know a fella that works at a bow shop and those re the two he talks about the most,

I shoot a Ten Point Titan XL. Very satisfied with it. Accessories include cocking mechanism and led scope. Should get all for around 500 . It's created lots more time in the woods for me,and three deer and several hogs.
