So you're at home - and whatever is on the end of your fork falls off and hits the ground. No one is there to see.
Assuming you dont have a dog, whats your next move?

Get another fork full while the dog eats the stuff on the floor.

Long overdue thread, IMO.
There is no such thing as manners anymore.

Depends on what it is, and which floor.

If it is anything juicy or sticky or anything like that, it will more than likely get animal hair from hitting any of my floors due to the number of pets I have, so I usually let one of the dogs get it.

My dog is old and not necessarily johnny on the spot anymore. So it depends on what it is. No dog hair on it is a plus.
But if no one else is there, I don't consider it a manners or etiquette issue. More like hygiene and food safety.

Food becomes unsafe when it hits your floor?

oh hey it's Emily Post. listen up Ems.. etiquette and manners are, by their very definitions, ideas associated with social settings. which makes the hypothetical scenario/question in your post completely irrelevant.

What did you do to my dog ?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 3:11 pm to Count Chocula
Check to see if it has hair on it. If not, ill eat it

Not really a hygiene issue either. It's icky. I get that.
