We may even get a new NRA member out of the deal? Since you have taken my ribbing with such good nature I will ask for an interpretation from you: my BIL can walk in that gun shop and buy a complete AR but not a stripped lower? You don't find that a bit "ridiculous"?

Here's their letter from 2009 LINK
Was this a change in 2009?
If so, then that's how I got mine in TN while a resident of AL. I built mine before my Dad passed away in 2009. That would answer that.

What I find ridiculous is your ignorance to the law. Its not the gun stores decision, what dont you understand?
Im happy he's getting a lower, but he looks like an arse if made a scene in that shop.
ETA: Would you, knowingly, do something illegal even though a federal agent would check it out and put your arse in jail? I think all of us would say no, which is exactly what the shop said.

He was never in the shop. His boss sent him a pic - he responded that he wanted it. He can walk in there and buy a complete AR but can't buy a stripped lower. I get it man.... what I find ridiculous you don't. Since you're here you want to help me find a stripped lower?

Sure, where do you live?
What kind of lower are you looking for? Billet/Forged? Brand name or not?
I dont care for billet, I dont care for brand names. As long as the lower is in spec and a reasonable price, its all good for me.

I'm FFL savvy (unlike my BIL). Like you said if it's in spec and a reasonable price I'm down.

I see judge's point (about purchase of a completed, usable at purchase, semi-auto rifle, encompassing the same part) being less restrictive, but many of the things that ATF does aren't always in line with public opinion. Since it could be made into a pistol, they wanted to make sure the more restrictive law applied. It is what it is
