I came across an article on 247 today regarding some 2014 and 2015 recruits and figured I would start a thread about it here. Coach Raymond putting in work.

2014 CB Deatrick Nichols (All Name Team nominee) This is my first time hearing his name but apparently we have made some form of contact.

quote:

Three-star cornerback Deatrick Nichols committed to South Florida in late May. He could flip if LSU offers late.

2015 CB Tarvarus McFadden (All Name Team nominee) we're listed as "warmer" on his profile

quote:

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder is an early SEC lean with a Top five in order of LSU, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.

2015 ATH Shawn Burgess-Becker He camped at LSU in July

quote:

The four-star recruit likely projects to play safety on the next level. Four programs have moved to the pole position for him: LSU, Miami, Florida and Alabama. No one leads in this situation.

2015 RB Erick Hardnett

quote:

He lists high interest in Rutgers, Florida, LSU, Miami and his favorite school, Florida State. LSU, Florida and Florida State have shown early interest.

Read all this earlier today. Never heard Nichols mentioned on this board once so I am curious where this flip talk is coming from?

He wants a committable offer, if he gets it, he would flip.

We recruit a lot of guys that don't get mentioned on the board. Backup plan guys, and our staff doing their due diligence

It seems to me that LSU recruits 3-stars from Florida harder than 3-stars from any other state. I don't know if that has any meaning. Maybe there are so many good players in Florida that the recruiting services feel like they have to put a limit on 4*s and above in the state. I've read a lot of times that a 3* in Florida would be a 4* in Missouri or somewhere else.

That makes sense

On another note, Tarvarus has a nice frame at 6'2.5" 180lbs. I am not sure how fast he is but from the pics on his profile, it seems he has a similar size to current commit John Battle.

Florida is and will always be stacked. So I can see where you are going with that post.

That and Raymond is a dog...leaving no stone unturned in Florida. Rashard Robinson was relatively unknown when LSU got on him hard last year. John Battle this year is seriously underrated. And as long as LSU's secondary is stacked with athletes from Louisiana and South Florida, they'll be best in the nation.

Just read the article on McFaddden and watched his film. He plays almost exactly like Rashard Robinson.

quote:

LSU - “Basically the program. They have a good staff. I’ve only meet their defensive backs coach, coach (Corey) Raymond They get their DBs into the NFL. Most of their guys go into the draft. I’ve watched them on TV and they have a great atmosphere.”

Deatrick Nichols has really good film. but i thought the db position was full after offering santos. looks like we are still shopping around. Class is getting tight.

I think he and Gage kind of lightened the staff's pursuit of Ramirez. One of those three are going to be in this class, it just depends on who has the best senior season.

Also, you never know what other names may arise during the season that aren't being mentioned now. I had never heard of Nichols until this topic was started. You also continue holding out hope for Adoree, hope he makes a visit and the staff knocks it out the park like it did for Garrett

Nice post.

I was initially worried about Raymond filling in cooper's shoes. He seems to be doing fine.

If he called right now and committed, it would be accepted no doubt.

For anyone that still has a Rivals subscription there is an interview up with Tarvarus McFadden after their game on Espn.
Basically says LSU is his leader right now even though FSU offered. Building a bond with Coach Raymond. Da U was his dream school growing up.

LSU will get exactly who they want at the DB position. They are still looking in the Florida region and they still like santos
