Why have beats become much better and more complex in the 21st century? Is it due to the increase in technology or an advancement in intellect? With all the great artists in the 20th century I'm sure they could have come up with the same type of beats.
What's your take?

My take is that this is another troll thread. Nobody is touching premier or dilla or doom or kanye this century.

But on average beats are much more complex with their wide variety of sounds. Trap, Club Bangers, Street Bangers, etc.

There are some beats out there that are ok but there is serious shortage of live instruments in the majority of those beats.

Computers. Any joe schmo can throw together some shite on fruity loops. Computers have enhanced the ease of beat making, but killed the art form at the same time imo.

I told myself I would come in this thread & play nice until I saw this abortion of a post.

Dude, seriously, give the internet & music a break. Better yet give life a break.

Beat even with the big albums. MCHG, Jesus Piece, Yeezus, DreamChasers, etc. There are many Joe's ruining the art, but at the top it's still getting better.

Go listen to the instrumental version of Pete Rock and CL Smooth's The Main Ingredient (the whole album) and get back to me

They were more talented back then imo because the were pulling samples for each part of the beats. Now you can basically be an ape and make a beat to rap over

Does it have better production than MCHG or Yeezus? Serious question, not a flame.

I disagree with this. There is nothing better at the top. The beats on yeezus dont come anywhere close to kanyes early beats. Same with jay, mchg has some of the lamest beats of his career. Making beats is too easy these days, you dont need to dig, you dont need to match drums with beats. Just plug it into the computer.

Um, yes. WAY better. But i doubt you would dig it, doesnt seem to fit your preferred style of beats. (Not a flame, im trying to be civil).

It also appears to be harder these days for producers to clear samples, which also hurts the art.
