Lorenzo Neal/JC Copeland comparisons

Neal was 5'11'' 255lbs
JC 6'1'' 265lbs
Neal is widely herald as one of the best blocking FB's in NFL history. Blocked for a 1000 yard rusher for 11 straight seasons. 4 with Cam.
Copeland has a chance to cement himself as best in LSU history.
Cam Cameron utilized Lorenzo in passing game more than any other years except 1 in Lorenzo's career. He finished with 199 catches in a 14 year career, but from 2003-2006 he caught 70 balls accounting for more than 1/3 of his total production in passing game. He also made All Pro in 2005-06. Lets not forgot about what LT accomplished under his blocking.
So what's this mean? I expect Copeland to avg 3-4 catches a game for significant first downs this season and really make an impact in sustaining drives with his hands instead of his blocking.
JC Copeland is the best fullback in college football and a future NFL player at a dying position.
Enjoy.

If he does that all season we are gonna be on the field a lot on offense.

Neal was also a tail back (I believe) at Fresno. Didn't become a FB until after a knee injury with Saints. Reinvented himself. I don't see much in common except they are both really good FBs at their level.

4 catches a game is 48 catches for the year. Only one player had that many last year so I highly doubt that happens

Copeland does not deserve to touch the ball.
He had more touches than Shepard did last year. Which is fricking ridiculous

Headcoach makes perfect sense I mean lets compare him to what he was instead of what he became.....it's a perfect comparison. Who cares what Lorenzo was at Fresno
25-30 catches would be ideal.

Well, considering JC hasn't stepped on the field with pros and grown men yet, my comparison is apt. Comparing 2 years of college ball to a 10 year pro career is dumb anyway. Oh yea its the rant

I m actually comparing 4 of 14 and an offensive coordinators utilization of the position.
What do you coach? Volleyball?

Not even close. Copeland is a thumper but he whiffs at times and his pass blocking is horrible. Neal was one of the best ever to do it.

Excellent observation. He was a damn fine running back until the injury.

whoa whoa WHOA
JC Copeland has done nothing to be compared to the best NFL FB of the past 25 years or so.
Also, I agree with Lester. Les clearly loves JC but the LSU offense doesn't need him touching the ball as much as he did last year.
Just pump the brakes, son.
