Big Dick loves him some good old fashion Les Miles I-form. Since Beckwith might have a little bit of a problem cracking the starting lineup on defense as a freshman, why not let the guy give big JC a break and see if he can split a couple of helmets at Full Back?? Copeland definately has that spot on lockdown for his money year and all so why not keep fresh legs at the FB spot just like they do at RB?

Keep in mind though... I wouldn't object to them lining up in the I-form 4 out of 5 snaps since I believe that you can do it all from that set as long as you use your TEs in the passing game.

Beckwith can be darned effective with the ball in his hands so he wouldn't be just a blocking guy in the eyes of the defense after he grinds out a few carries. Heck, the guy was a great HS QB so he shouldn't translate too badly to offense as a backup FB with a somewhat limited role compared to an experienced FB.

I love the FB spot and think that it takes a dominant FB to make the I-form effective so why not see if he can give the spot a try if it isn't looking like he will be needed in the DE rotation or at LB? He just might end up being the perfect answer to the Tigers needing to replace JC after this year?

At the very least, it might get him on the field this year until he locks down a spot next year.

Melvin jones is moved to fullback.

Beckwith will see the field with increasing playing time as the season goes on. Primarily at outside linebacker and especially on special teams

I guess you haven't been paying attention.

Beckwith is projected to play a ton on defense. I do have to admit I would like to see him at DE, but I'll put my trust in him at LB if that is where he is progressing. A lot of people think he could take jones' spot, but that is because some people don't understand how good jones is and how highly Chavis thinks of him. regardless, beckwith will play.

Beckwith will play 20+ snaps vs tcu. No way he is lost in the shuffle at lb. he'll have other guys lost in the mix.

Jones is at fullback bc beckwith is about to take over. Then it will be the beckwith/garret/Alexander show.

I am pretty certain that beckwith starts the season backing welter and eventually welter ends up backing welter.

I don't know about 20 snaps, but I'm sure he will see something.

I also think he will get a lot of snaps both at strongside backer and rush end on 3rd and long. But LB will be his primary position, his lateral quickness and ability to play in space is the reason. Hearing he's currently ahead of Debo now on the depth chart. He's truly a special athlete.

I'm sure he would do great at FB, but you start giving him those offensive reps in practice now takes away from the LB (or DE) reps that are vital for him right now. A great LB is way more valuable to a team than a great FB.

not when that fullback is a dominating presence like Copeland blowing open holes and even blowing up defenses with the ball in his hands. If JOnes can be another Copeland then the move is a good one. WE have plenty of good LB's now but a dominate FB is hard to find.

Beckwith is an OLB. While I would like his size in the middle, I haven't see any reports of him being there. They'll probably bring him in on Mustang as an extra rusher.

They moved Melvin Jones to FB is what I hear. I like it. Go watch Melvin's highlights dude is huge and has some wheels. I think he is the JC replacement you've been looking for.
