Can someone give me an idea of where these tickets come from? Or how the allotments usually work for the big bowl games? Obviously the schools get a good portion, but where do all of the others go?

50 bucks really doesn't seem all that bad.

This is handled directly by the Rose Bowl. They set aside a certain amount of tickets for this process (I'm not sure what the exact number is, but let's just say 5,000).

People buy and sell reserves for every team. Once the allotment is sold out, prices are determined solely by market factors. You can buy and sell your reserves throughout the season all the way up to the announcement of the BCSCG.

If you still hold reserves for a team that makes the BCSCG, you are guaranteed a seat at the BCSCG for face value.

For example...I own 6 LSU reserves. If LSU makes the BCSCG, I will have 6 seats to the BCSCG after I pay the face value of the tickets. The Rose Bowl takes care of everything and mails me my tickets.

I have used this process for our last two BCSCGs (Ohio State and Bama). The only downside (and it's minor IMO, is that if LSU does not make the title game, and assuming you still hold your LSU reserves and haven't sold them at some point in the season, then you lost the amount you paid for hte reserve).

JP - Are the seats you have gotten for those games decent? Or are they in the top row of the upper tank?

I am thinking I am going to go ahead and put a bid in for some LSU tix, so just wanted to check from someone who knows.

JPLSU is correct. I, and many others on TD.com, have used this site as well the last few years. It is legit.

For Bama I got lower level endzone, for OhioSt I got 30yd line uppers.

for the Rose Bowl BCSCG I'm pretty sure all the TeamTix are in the endzones.

Sounds like it is a pretty decent deal. Having the ability to buy face value tickets for only putting 50 bucks on the line per ticket isn't bad.

Or, if you can't make the game, selling each reservation for >$1000 each is nice too. (Based on last year)

Yep, I always buy 2 extra "LSU" as basically insurance if we make the game.

Basically, if LSU makes it, I sell the two extra tickets and it pays for my trip.

This year, I bought 6 and only need 4 tickets.....If LSU makes it, I'll sell the extra two tickets for $1000+ each and have $2000 play money for the trip.

If LSU doesn't make it, I lose my $270 ($45 x 6) that I paid for the reserves, but that's a small price to pay IMO to guarantee myself face value tickets and extra cash for the trip if we actually make the game.

Do you buy other teams and use that as a hedge for LSU not making it?

Yes, I bought A&M, FSU, OU, Texas, and Michigan.

I've already sold all but Michigan for a profit.

How long did you have to hang on them before you were able to profit off of them?

profited from the A&M ones almost immediately...the others took a few months from when they first went on sale (which I think was back in Feb/March)

How much have the prices changed? What did LSU open for?

Yeah, I thought they originally went on sale a while back and I thought the prices had gotten higher than they are now. I thought LSU was a fair amount higher than 50 when I looked back in March or a while back. I guess not.

a few LSU's opened at $20/$25....most of them opened at $40/$45 I believe....LSU got up to $80 for a while, but has since settled back at about $50.

You won't see any major movement on LSU til after the UGA game. If we win, expect LSU's to head towards $100+, if we lose we'll fall to $10-$20.
