This show seems to have done a lot of things right and yet somehow didn't make it past 1.5 seasons?? It's about as close to LOST as I've seen a show come.

I loved that show. Really wished another channel like SyFy would have picked it up.

That being said, the second season they were given to come back and try to wrap it up should be completely disregarded.

its difficult for a show to be successful on a major network there have been many shows I've watched that failed.

oh and Jericho only continued because there was such a huge fan support that they extended it one season.

oh yeah Lost is way better then Jericho so don't try and compare.

I hate that it's compared to Lost. Just because it was a mystery doesn't mean it has any of the sci-fi elements Lost had. I think the winter break killed the interest btw.

That was one of my favorite episodes. The truck gets attacked by thugs and Jake is trapped under it in the cold.

Because most shows like LOST fail on network television.

Even critically acclaimed serialized shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc. would struggle in the ratings on network television compared to procedurals like Elementary and Hawaii 5-0.

In answer to the original question. Jericho was once of the first shows to have a mid season break. This caused a significant drop off in viewership. In addition to that, it was also one of the first new shows to offer episodes on Demand and there was that whole new TiVo thing.

This caused the network to greatly underestimate the amount of viewers the show actually had.

Bottom line, any show that appeals to above average intelligence will suffer on basic cable.

I wouldn't go that far. I think Jericho could have been better than lost. lost only gets the nod because of longevity.
