OK OBers, looking to buy a good riding lawn mower for UNDER $2K.
Looking for specific models, ex John Deere D105
Also, not really looking for a Zero-Turn
I'll hang up and listen.

Have you considered the old style Snapper riders? For small yards they work well. You can get a 30-33" rider for a good bit less than 2k.

End of the season coming you might be able to find some demos...

It is worth the money to go with a good ZTR over the Lowes and Home Depot mowers especially on an acre and half. You'll be replacing that mower every 3-5 years. My uncle went through 3 sears brand riders before he finally realized that he was spending more money on the cheap mowers rather than just buying a commercial grade mower from the start. He bought a 46 inch ExMark and has never looked back. His wife beats the living hell out of it and it still goes. Plus there are shops that will work on the mowers rather than dealing with the big box guys who don't know their arse from a hole in the ground

I have an acre and a half and bought a used commercial grade SnapperPro for $1900 3 years ago. Great mower. I had a cub cadet from Lowes before that and it beat it to death in 6 years time.
I would look into a commercial grade used zero turn if I were you. You can find them in that price range.

Bought a John Deere D110 two years ago from Sunshine Equipment and it hasn't missed a beat.
Got about 3/4 of an acre and knock it out in 45 minutes....paid about $1500.00
Go for it and pocket the savings

Most brands are good nowdays. Figure out how fast you want to mow your yard and go from there. Most mowers will give you how many acres per hour they can mow.
And find a dealer with good reputation that will give you service. I think this is more important than brand. Because no matter what brand something will break and you will need parts.
