I loved this as a kid but it's just not the same as an adult. I never realized how bad a child actor Ethan Hawke was. At least he got better as he aged. The aliens are still cool. It's on Netflix btw.

One of my all time favorites as a kid. Haven't thought about this movie in a long time. Awesome.

Have always wondered what could have been if River Phoenix didn't OD. What level of star would he have won an Oscar or have become just another mid level actor.

Great movie. Just introduced this to my kids a few months ago and they liked it. I had a long thread about 80s movies and this one was mentioned many times.

The guy was really good. He'd have fit in-between age wise of Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio. He'd have turned 43 this year. For such a young guy, he had had some really solid roles and done well with them. Aside from a few of the obvious ones, I always really liked Dog Fight.

He'd be what Johnny Depp is now, which is why Depp had him killed.

Explorers was my 2nd favorite kid movie behind The Goonies.

I had a VHS tape with Ghostbusters, The Goonies, and Explorers on it. I must have watched it at least a hundred times.

I wouldn't mind seeing it again I don't think I have seen it since I was a kid.

I love Joe Dante movies.

definitely agree. Watching him in the opening sequences of Last Crusade, you could really see his talent at work.
