Not trying to turn this into a normal strength of schedule argument/piss and moan fest we see around here.

How do you think the schedule sets up with our bye weeks this year? In relevant part, we go:

Oct. 19 Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss.
Oct. 26 Furman in Baton Rouge
Nov. 2 Open
Nov. 9 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Nov. 16 Open
Nov. 23 Texas A&M in Baton Rouge

If we count Furman as a de facto bye week, that's two off weeks before Bama. Take another week off, then A&M. I can see how it might be a plus getting so much rest on the back end of the season (especially after we run through that SEC gauntlet leading up to Ole Miss), but does anyone think all that time off with two important games might lead to a focus problem?

No. That time could be extremely valuable for injury rehab and game planning. I never mind a down week or two before the biggest game of the season.

No, I like the fact that we have a bye week before our two toughest SEC West games (until Manziel is no longer a part of that team, I will consider him their qb).

I don't like that we play UF before Ole Miss on the road. I also don't like two road games back to back (UGA and Miss State).

If you get beat in Athens, it might be hard to rally and go on the road again the next week.

LSU plays 9 straight weeks of football, then the byes show up. I like having a bye before Bama, but 9 weeks is pretty long with this schedule for a breather.

I think it sets up very well.
Would like it much more if Bama and A&M both didn't have byes before us also.

It's to our advantage. We're giving our players more time to rest and our coaches more time to study film and gameplan for both Bama and A&M

I'd rather play furman between bama and a&m with the bye week sometime in early october. But if we make it through Ole Miss with one loss or less we should be in great shape.

We played our best game of the season last year against Bama after a bye week.

Let me stop you right there.

Furman hits hard, too. They're not going to be a bye week for us. We will be bruised up by the end of the game. Not nearly as much as if we had played an SEC team or a TCU, but they're not going to be a pushover. We won't let them.

And Moo State is overdue to scratch one out against us.

totally with you. That 5-week stretch of SEC games is pretty scary, honestly. The toll adds up.
